I have had an ongoing overheat probl;em with my 4 runner and cant seem to fix it, here is what has been done so far.
1- New radiator
2- waterpump
3-3 different thermostats
4-flush & fill several times
5 Heads removed and new gaskets installed and heads re done.
6- Radiator cap.
7- Clutch fan
With all this in a half hour it will be so hot you cant drive it !
Could possibly a Catlic Convertor in the exhaust cause this, UI am getting a sulfer type smell and thought maybe?? If any ideas are out there let me know. THanks.

Clint, I just ran across this. When did you have the gaskets replaced? My '91 V6 had the same problem. It went too long before I did anything and the engine was eventually replaced (recall). If you still have your receipts, I'd get in touch with Toyota and see what they can do. Maybe the heads are still warped and gasket is bad. Good Luck. Send me a PM and keep me posted. Dan

don't forget that if the campaign was done they (dealer) should have checked the block, if it was bad, they had to replace it. the campaign booklet the dealer got when this came out explains how to check it, and what to check for.
