This is not another recall related thread... This is due to a different pedal issue I have been having.

Issue was that my truck went into "limp" mode, had several dash MIL's illuminated. First diagnosed as a relay, then the entire pedal assembly. It took the dealer 16 DAYS to (not) "fix" my pedal issue... I got the truck back - truck feels better, but still not right. I used to have to be careful pulling out into traffic because the truck would spin the tires it had so much power off the line. I doubt I could get the truck to spin the tires from just hitting the accelerator if I tried. MIL's were off when I picked up the truck and during the drive home. Which brings me to issue #2:

The dealer parked it underneath a tree with a bunch of birds in the tree, so it was full of leaves, twigs and bird droppings. While washing off the bird droppings I realized that the truck was damaged at the dealership. My paint is chipped off on the fender, which was underneath a bird dropping...

Issue #3: I just noticed that I have the "sagging/falling" dashboard problem now.

SO... Back to the dealer we go again. Just thought I'd share my experience with everyone here. I know how to take care of the problem - but needed to vent my frustration somewhere.

I could never spin the tires on my crew max! I wonder if something is wrong with my truck? If I get on the gas hard it bogg down I think it is the nanny system is it?

Mine would at least do a 1/4 spin, although I woud let out of it before it would totally "spin." I could also "snap your head" back into the headrest. I haven't tried to lite the tires up until they smoked. In any event, the truck feels gutless at the moment... So something isn't right.

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes - ECM will revert back to default and your original power should be there again.

As far as the bird poo and paint damage - that's the dealer's fault and they should make 100 percent good on that, even if it means repainting the truck.

I hope you get them to take care of it!

So your complaint is the traction control is working?... lmao! Its not suppose to spin, maybe it was broke and they fixed it?

If you want to smoke the hell out of the tires, turn the freaking nannies off! I turn mine everytime I start the truck.

As far as your paint goes.... good luck with that. If you didn't do a "walk around" with your service advisor when you dropped it off, its not going to be easy getting it fixed.

Every time that I take my truck in for service ... I walk around it with service writer and my iPhone videoing the walk around. Do this at drop off and pickup.

I also do this when I rent a vehicle too ... especially big trucks. It has saved my azz several times over the years.

That is why I will stay and wait on my truck when it goes to the dealer for whatever..If they have to order a part, they can put it back together and I will bring it back when it comes in! Fawkers do not care!

Unfortunately this service took 16 days... I would had to have people bring me food, laundry, etc...

I do a walk around before and after I pick it up. It is isn't dented or scratched. The paint was chipped and underneath some bird poop. Maybe that was why they parked it there. It is chipped in a wierd spot, like the door of jacked up truck on 44" tires did it.

It probably isn't anything a bottle of touch up paint and a skilled paint/body person couldn't fix in a few minutes and you wouldn't know it was there. Everytime I have made a place fix a simple scratch the repair looked worse than the damage...

The ipone video camera thing is great idea...

I'll provide an update after my visit this afternoon.

You better watch out in the dealers,we took my camry 2008 to do the pedal fix.And guess what?They mess up bad,they cut the pedal 1 1/2 of the bottom ,and intalled the plastic part on the top of the pedal.And i think the did something to the ecu too.Now the car comes to a breaking neck stop,every time you press the brake pedal..Now guess what ?Im ready to take action soon.

After looking at your pedal fix, I have a stupid question: If the pedals on these cars are so bad off that they need to be shimmed and hacked away at in order to work right, then why doesn't the manufacturer just redesign them and install a new pedal in the affected cars? I would think it would be faster and cheaper (and look better) to just throw a new one in?

I just did this with a u haul.
Same guy gives me a scratched up truck and I say this is really bad, he says no problem. Next day he is all upset I damaged the u haul. Says it is going to cost me and forgets me bringing it up the day before with him. I guess he did not see me take pictures in his lot with my phone before I left. He remembers the damage after I show him the pics.

uh...they were supposed to cut the bottom.....so i dont see how they messed up "bad"...


now as for the brakes....i dunno...but the ecu woudlnt have anything to do with that...

That right there is absolutely a hack job. I can't believe Toyota approves that as a permanent fix. It looks like crap.

actually its kinda a temporary fix. according to all the FAQ info from toyota out there on the web, trimming it fixes the problem until they are able to make replacement pedals. then, they will have replacements available for those who wish for them to be replaced. im sure theres alot of fleet people etc that dont care what it looks like so thats toyotas way of making it less harmful to the pocket book. i mean, camrys are kinda pretty much rental cars for the most part so who really cares what it looks like right? except for those people who bought one for personal use.

While a lot of camrys are the base model, used for transportation, many are well equipped cars. It's like saying your tundra is just a work truck. And a lot of people are just fussy no matter what.

I'd be willing to bet the majority of people who took their car in for a "fix" and were showed that would be upset with it no matter what their background in cars. Even someone with minimal knowledge of automobiles has to see that "fix" for what it is.

no, i honestly do see something wrong with it. it looks like chit. but im just saying its their interim fix till they get the new pedals available and can swap them out for those who dont like it. i just know all the camry people i have ever known arent enthusiasts or even care enough to worry with it.

its like when dodge had mirrors that the pivot points snapped and they would flop around...their "fix" was to install sheetmetal screws to screw them in place until they could get the parts made to bring the customer back in to fix it properly. it addresses the immediate problem.

now that said, theres no way in helll id let them touch my truck, thats why even if they send me a recall notice i doubt i'll do anything about it. maybe the shim thing but certainly no need to trim a pedal, if they were to want to trim the tundras. i'd have to stack 5 floor mats on top of each other if they were to get in the way of the pedal...no thanks. ill just use the floor anchors to hold them in place to keep them from having to cut my pedal, etc.

so in other words, yeah. it looks like crap, but its temporary for the most part until the get the parts available. but all i was saying is most people wont care enough to go back...they are the ones running around with 3 hubcaps and door dings and scratches and burned out 3rd brake lights. or rental cars. didnt mean to come across cranky (this time)
