Ummm, can you take a picture of the rear shocks (the newly installed ones), i know it is a strange request, but my mechanic (a friend of mine) insists that it will not fit, so I need a picture to shut him up -lol- and show him that it will fit.
Thank you
I should be able to get a photo when I have the Sequoia back from the mechanic later today. They will fit. That model shock is designed for the 2nd gen Sequoia.

Hello
how are the shocks holding with you? everything is fine?
can you please confirm that those are the shocks you ordered?
i am planing to get the front OEM Shocks and get the shocks in the link for the rear, what do you think?
thank you for your support.
That’s them. I can try to get a picture this evening if my wife gets home before dark.

They bolt right up with no modifications. The only reason bilstein says they don’t fit is because they are designed for coil springs not the airbags.

They have held up great and I have no regrets about using them.

Thanks for the picture
This B8 5100 not 4600, correct?
I am thinking of installing the front OE shock for platinum, and get the rear from SR5, but i am afraid that the SR5 shocks will be very smooth for the air suspension system, or even save my money and install both from SR5 since they will fit.
I red that the bilstein B6 4600 is the heavy duty shocks for sequoia and the only different between them and the B8 5100 is the height control, and since i am not lifting my truck i will go with the 4600 if i decided to go with bilsteins.

Yes, the 4600s are typically yellow w/blue, 5100s are shiny metal w/ black boots. Supposedly the valving and everything is the same other than the 5100s being longer to accommodate a lift. If you're staying at stock height, save a few dollars and go with the 4600s.

I have read that the 5100 and 4600 are the same but when I spoke with bilstein, they said the valving was different with the 5100’s being slightly stiffer.

They also told me they would not work with the air suspension so take it for what it’s worth.

I still have that special tool if anyone needs it. Cover the shipping and it’s yours. I like using priority mail and it’s right under $8 for the small box.

Edit:

Tool is sold... no longer available.

I traded the Sequoia last week on a leftover ‘19 Expedition Max. So far so good. I did buy the 100k btb warranty for it.

So how is the conversion holding up? I have stock suspension that is leaking oil and i was thinking of doing the coil conversion and lifting...Reading through this post it sounds like i can just get away with putting on some 5100's front and rear? (for now) I will lose the suspension setting mode, but that's not really working now anyhow, is that all i'm going to miss? If so i'll probably wait until the bags go out and switch to coil. How do the 5100's do for mild off roading? just thinking about fire roads and mild 4x4 roads out here in CO. Thanks in advance!

Hey, just curious where and how you got ahold of this type of tool? I'm considering removing air suspension on my sequoia and going with aftermarket stiffer springs to match my 5100 struts in the front. But need to remove my airbags. Thoughts?

Ok, so I have an 08 Ltd With rear air suspension, but NO adjustable shocks. I took out the factory struts in the front, and rear shocks, and replaced with Bilstein 5100 struts in the front, and 5100 shocks in the back. Rides a bunch firmer than stock with less bounce. Set the struts on the 1.5" lift setting... One thing I noticed is that the trear sensors matched the front height, so I'm level all around. Was a nice surprise.

BUT I want to take the air suspension out and replace with thicker springs, and install an airlift system instead, to handle more weight, as we often tow a travel trailer with 7-8 passengers. So... Was wondering on the thread above, if there are any comments on how the swap worked out? Ride quality etc? Also, my main question is were there error messages on the dashboard after taking the hardware out?

To my knowledge no one has done the swap yet. I no longer own the sequoia though.

Oh, so you never ended up doing the swap in the end then?
No, I put the 5100’s on the rear and hoped for the best. They were fine until I traded it in on an expedition in January. If they would have blown, or I had an issue with the air system, I definitely would have done the swap no question.

On a side note. I love the expedition more than the Sequoia. I’m not sold on the reliability yet, but as far as driving comfort and power ford has it figured out, and thats going from a platinum sequoia to an XLT expedition. I still have my Tundra and an about to hit 100,000 miles on it. No plans to get rid of it anytime soon.

I am about to swap my rear air suspension on my wife's '12 platinum for a set of coil springs. I have a parts Showbox jiofi.local.html tplinklogin list from the dealer and will hopefully tackling it pretty soon. Has anyone done this before? I find posts with people talking about it but that's it. I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Just looking for more input before I order all the parts.

I recommend contacting Roman at Toyota of Cool Springs. His prices are hard to beat AND he's friendly/knowledgeable.

Has anyone bought the special tool needed to release the airlines? Part number. 09730-00010

Cheapest I found in the us is around $60. I can get it for $35 on eBay from Spain. I bought a haynes manual. And was reading up on the rear suspension and found the note about the special tool needed.

Ok, so my air suspension on my 2008 Limited just pooped the bed... Halfway up to our camping trip while towing my 6500lb travel trailer. Was a very bumpy ride lol - I pulled the fuses and kept going lol... I'm probably going to do this swap, but my plan is to not go to factory rear springs, rather either dobinsons or Bilstein springs to match the 5100 coilovers I installed 2 years ago. I already have those shocks too. Then I will likely put airbags in them - or some other type of overweight system to help keep things stable while towing/bumps etc.

I have the list of parts that the other fellow so generously supplied. I'm going to contact my Toyota dealer first to confirm everything, then probably take it to an independent shop OR have a toyota mechanic do this in his backyard...

I have a few questions... Maybe anyone knows can chime in?

That air tube separator, the one for $35 - 09730-00010 - If I have the toyota dealer do this, they should already have that part right? I would imagine they would... Thoughts? I would probably need it if another shop did the work, or is it really necessary?

Secondly I'm concerned about the dashboard lights remaining on after this - anyone know of a way around this? Will the air suspension inop lights continue to flash? And how to remedy?

I'm posting this in one of the other threads too, you might see it twice.

It was just an airline that had popped off somehow. The connector broke... Cost me $800 at the dealer for a new line and connector.

Anyway I sadly sold the Sequoia and replaced with an expedition but I'm regretting it already. Go figure...

I should have done the swap and put in Firestone airbags for a firmer level ride with the front bilsteins
