I have a 2002 Tundra 4WD. On the power steering reservour, which hose is the return line? Is it the larger line or the smaller line? Also can I use Valvoline DEXRON III / MERCON MaxLife ATF Automatic Transmission Fluid In the power steering unit? I am going to attempt to flush my unit.

Thanks,

Scoob

The smaller line is the return line on my 2001 Tundra. 2002 Tundra should be the same.

Dexron III or equivalent is the recommended fluid for the power steering. As long as your replacement fluid is Dexron III compatible then you should be safe. I used RP Max ATF when I flushed my power steering. I added a Magnefine filter in the power steering return line for a little extra protection. See link for the procedure. #4 (permalink)
