Pto

Hi,
Does my 2002 V8/4x4 Tundra have a power takeoff? If so, where is it? If not, can one be added? If not, then does anyone have a suggestion how I could add an AC generator sturdy enough to run a MIG welder, tile saw, or other power tools in an area where I have no power? I know I could buy a separate generator, but there are reasons why it might be better to build it into the truck (theft, for one, tax reasons for another) so I'm just examining my options.
Thank you,

--Brian

No truck doesn have a PTO.

In order to run one, you would need another way for the trans output to come out-IE 2 outputs or a divorced transfercase.

In short it would be a heck of alot of trouble, time and effort to make it work. I suggest a generator.
I doubt it has one. Aside from an Allison, I've never seen an auto tranny set up for one. So, if I'm reading this correctly, you want to get a PTO operated generator so you can run power tools? I am sure the cost of doing this would outweigh the savings in taxes. Install some anchor points in the bed, get a gas generator, and padlock it in the bed when you're not using it.

OK, that was easy. Thanks, --Brian
i've seen people add generators to the accessory drive on diesels before but not sure if it would handle the larger equipment you want to run and there is probably not a kit out there for the tundra, you may want to check out the industrial size inverters maybe there is one out there you could find that will work for you.
