Bought a 2008 Limited 5 years ago. Love that damn truck!
Anyway, the Vehicle Equipped With Remote Start sticker is on the radiator shroud but I cannot get it to work. So perhaps they dealer pulled it or it failed...
Where is this unit (aftermarket or OEM) located? Thanks.

Can't help you with the location of the module; I have remote start and it's the most worthless accessory ever. I rarely use it and here's why:

The remote range is too short (maybe 25 feet)
The engine shuts off when you open the door
The 4-way flashers come on and stay on for a few minutes
The magic button push is inconvenient and doesn't always work. A dedicated button would be nice. Here's the procedure from Toyota:
  1. Press the LOCK button on your Toyota remote.
  2. Push the LOCK button again within 1 second.
  3. Press and hold the LOCK button a third time for at least 3 seconds, and your engine will start.
So... IMHO, it's no great loss if it's not there or not working.

Thats because you got an OEM one and those blow. Get aftermarket. Range is massive, like almost a mile, plus you can change settings, use your phone to start it, no stupid shut off if the door opens etc. And with aftermarket you can move it from vehicle to vehicle, you cant do that with OEM.
Cogniz-It should be under the dash most likely just above the brake pedal. If there's nothing there but some cut wires that will tell you its been removed. If its still there i would suggest you take it some place like a stereo shop that does starter installs to have it looked at. Not trying to be an A hole but if you didnt even know where to look you probably dont want to start poking at it.

All good. I knew it would be attached to the factory harness, likely under the dash, audio panel or elsewhere. Why not take advantage of someone else tackling the learning curve?
Given the feedback, I'll not pursue this. I've got a remote starter called a 7 year old. She does the trick...pretty good range, too.
