Someone tried and failed to break into my truck last night, taking a screwdriver to the driver-side door lock. The lock is pretty beat up, and the handle is a little loose now. Has anyone replaced these before?

I'm thinking of getting a replacement handle and cylinder and having a locksmith set up the cylinder for me so I don't have to change keys and replace all cylinders. I'd guess I just need to remove the door panel from the inside to be able to get at everything.

Any help is appreciated - thanks,

Matt

mine was too, was the passenger side, luckly they didn't break in. I bought part on ebay luckly same color(salsa red ) , I did changed it myself, and the barrel is easy to interchange so the key will still work, (if the barrel wasn't damaged) .the hardest part is to access all the bolts and try to get the old piece out and back in with the hard wire that opens the door.I didn't pull the door panel all the way out cause i didn't know how but i work around it. I pull out as much as i can and put something in between to make it stay open. Then take the bolts out and try not to drop them , they are hard to get them once they fall. It 's not that hard but takes some pacience to figure it out. It took me about an hour and a half to do it and looks like it never happend.
