anyone have any experience with the numerous rust converters out there? i just washed the winter grime off my 2003 tundra and noticed that rust has taken over the frame pretty good. i was thinking about trying one of these products to rescue my beloved tundra.

i was thinking about just coating with converter and not top coating to save on money and to have a better visual inspection of the frame. can this be done or does it have to be painted after application of converter?

I've had good luck with POR 15 on some of the old crap I've worked on.

Only 2 I trust:

1. POR-15, its expensive but it works and will last for dang near forever. Downside is you need a mask and gloves and you really gotta glop it on.

2. Rustoleum rust reformer spraypaint. it works quite well but I also coated with satin black after. Has held up pretty dang well tbh for a few years now.
