In the process of installing timing belt.

I have installed the belt by lining up the marks on the belt with the marks on the cam shafts. Installed new tensioner. Rotate crankshaft 2 rotations. The marks on the cam shaft sprockets line up with the lines on the engine block when the crank is at TDC. The marks on the timing belt are no where to be seen.

So, do I have the timing belt in the correct spot even though after two full rotations the white marks on the belt do not line up with the marks on the camshaft sprockets.

It is on a 2005 w/ VVT.

Thanks so very much. Beers sent your way in though.

The lines on the belt are only for installation. Once you turn the engine, they will never line up again. Go by the marks on the pulleys and lines on the engine when the crank is on tdc.

73Mach1429 - Thanks. I thought that to be the case but late night, poor illustration in one of the manuals I had had me second guessing. Thanks again.
