Just beginning to install a new Snug Top bed cover and found a deep 1-inch scratch. Does anyone have a good method for applying touch-up paint? The kind that comes in the little bottles with brushes. Usually when I use this stuff the repair looks almost as bad as the scratch.

Very lightly dab the brush on the paint slowly filling it in. Dont just smear it on like nail polish. Let dry and do again. Should come out OK. Will never look as good as it did, but will look better. :tu:

Fortunately, I haven't had enough opportunities to perfect my technique with it, but IIRC the Langka Paint Chip and Scratch Repair Kit was recommended in several threads I've seen here. The one time I used it, my biggest issue was the poor color match of the Toyota touch-up paint itself (bought the bottle from the dealership and meticulously followed all directions, too). I'd say the kit does what the manufacturer claims, but be certain you have good lighting and are not in a rush when using it.

The trick is to get the paint "only" in the scratch.
