So, it seems a Tundra bumper will fit a Sequoia IF you change out the grill also. However, anyone know if the mounting holes/brackets are the same on the Tundra and Sequoia? If they are the same, it would open up a whole new world of bumper options for us.

I saw that Tundra mod long ago. Tundra guys are spoiled since they have so many aftermarket stuff made for their trucks. I'm interested in stuff made for Sequoias or which Tundra parts actually fits a Sequoia. Thanks for the facebook link. I can't log in through work but that looks so awesome! A 2015 Tundra front end on a 2nd Gen Sequoia! If they sell this conversion kit I will totally buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The 2nd gen Sequoia hasn't had a refresh since it came out in 2008 but with this facelift mod, it can be a "2017 redesign" lol

 

Apparently, the cab for the new tundra and old tundra are the same which means the fender lines line up. This means there's a possibility that you can bolt the new Tundra front end onto the Sequoia without too much major modifications. This is too awesome. I know what I'm going to save my money up for.

But.. for us Platinum owners.. it's missing the Headlights washer/spray.. and the Radar Cruise Control Sensor.. If we do this we gonna need to Cut some holes.. but THAT is what 2nd Gen Sequoia's need.. either a Refresh or a Complete 3rd Gen Redesign.. Projector Headlights with LED DRL + LED Tail Lights.. and a built in HDMI input...

 

I don't mind cutting headlight washer holes or a cruise control hole if it means I can get the new Tundra front end. I showed my wife this mod and she's on board with the idea. Since I just bought my sequoia last week and it was bought mainly for her to drive, I can't do the mod just yet. Hopefully in a year or so. In the meantime, I'm going to slowly gather all the front end pieces for my eventual project.

I've been comparing the fender lines of the old Tundra and new one and they seem identical. However, I'm pretty sure the mounting and braces underneath could be different.

 

I wonder how it would look with just the grill and fender update but keeping the sequoia bumper

 

Looks like there's also a black one. I can't wait to do this mod someday since Toyota probably wont be refreshing the Sequoia anytime soon.....or ever.

 

A) It looks like the fenders, hood, etc, etc (everything forward of the A pillar would need to be replaced)


B) I don't like the look of the headlights, etc on the Tundra or the Sequoia, it looks different and 'refreshed' like the new Tundra but that isn't necessarily a good thing.

Besides trimming a bracket, did the aftermarket Tundra bumper require other work to fit? Like, did you have to drill additional holes or anything?

So if I were to order a Fab Fours bumper or any other bumper made specifically for the Tundra, all I would need to do is cut some brackets and buy a Tundra grill and everything should align and fit well?

 

The Sequoia with a Tundra front end is amazing! I love the more aggressive look on the front end.

 

I think the new front end is pretty cool. I've been seeing this show up on Instagram over the last year or so. I still don't like how low the bumper goes. There so much stuff down there that has to be covered up. To build a nice proper bumper would mean lots of work....

 

At least you guys like it. I guess fellow member JMSinMD likes the stale look of the 2008-2016 Sequoia front end. I'm not holding out for Toyota to update the Sequoia so that's why I really like this conversion. However, even if Toyota updates the look for 2017, I just bought this Sequoia recently so I'm stuck with it for a while and a conversion is the more logical step for me if I want it to look "refreshed".

 

I don't think the look is that much different except making it look more Americanized with the excessively large chrome grill. I also think the headlights look too small on such a large vehicle.


To do the conversion you're going to be looking at a lot of coin, most likely along with the hood, grill, lights, bumper you're also going to have to replace the fenders as well.

 

Well I found this thread from yotatech. Creadit goes to aa1911 as he was gracious enough to take time to document how he installed a Tundra bumper on a Sequoia.

So, if for some reason I don't end up doing a 2014-2016 Tundra front end conversion someday then at least I know it wont be too hard installing a 2007-2013 Tundra aftermarket bumper if I decide to go that route instead.

 

I love the new front end but just not on our sequoia. The side shot looks funny to me the wheel well is a different size and shape.

 

I love your Sequoia. I plan to get bushwackers too. Was it hard to modify the rear bushwackers to fit the sequoia? I know you gotta cut it in two and redo the gas door area. Also, with those rear bushwacker fenders that you have, it could match the front Tundra wheel well shape so that it doesn't look weird with two different shaped wheel wells.

Man, now I don't know what to do now that I've seen your awesome rig. Continue my plans of the 2014-2016 Tundra conversion in a few years, or copy you and do the 2007-2013 Tundra front end with bushwacker fenders? You should post more photos. I'm in love

 

Im with JMsinMD on this, while the mod is cool in that the front end was completely redesigned, not the way I personally would go with my Rig. Im generally not a fan of making an early model look like something it isn't. Especially since that game never ends, every year there will be something new to add, be it a light a grill or a whatever.

While the design maybe stale, it was stale when I chose to buy it, so doesn't make a lot of sense to knock it when it was good enough to drop the coin on. I love the idea of personalizing a rig to ones taste, a lift, rims, debadging whatever it maybe to make it unique to you. but a complete overhaul not my style, again its a personal thing.

For me I prefer S2klbc style mod to the new tundra front overhaul any day. Not that anyone knows but you can see toyota eventually making a Sequoia with the new tundra looks should they choose to keep the model going.

I also get the excitement of getting a new rig and wanting to upgrade everything. Spending hours online looking at bumpers to racks to lifts, to lights and any other conversion or upgrade under the sun. Alot of times though practicality and cost go out the window during that phase.

 

haha you're right. I need to slow my horses and put more thought into what mods I really want. I'll let the excitement die down and then i'll have a better idea for what I truly want. Personally for me I like the rugged look. I'm not too fond of the bling/"luxury" look of the stock Platinum. If I wanted that then I would have bought a luxury brand. Anyway, I'm planning on buying two more cars within the next year or so, therefore I'm not going to do any major mods on the Sequoia for now.

 

Not to hijack the thread but anyone looking to put a 2010-2013 Tundra grill on a 08-09 Sequoia it looks to be pretty simple.

It's not that simple. Tundra grills are longer than ours it has to be trimmed. All he did was put a newer tundra grill on an older tundra.

 

I thought about putting a 07-13 tundra grill on mine, but i dont have the proper tools or patience to trim it down cleanly. I could have also just went ahead and get a Tundra bumper so I wouldnt have to trim the Tundra grill, but cant decide which bumper to get. Anyway, I ordered a pair of 2014-2016 Tundra fenders to get my conversion started someday.

 

I'm going put a 10-13 tundra sport grill on. Gonna go ahead an trim it down to fit the stock Sequoia bumper. I would like to build a custom tube bumper but I will not have time for that till next winter probably. That huge chunk of plastic crap has to go.

I don't know if these are commercially available yet but 2 yrs ago these guys said they were developing fiberglass parts for a 2007-2013 Tundra that would convert it to the 2014 Tundra.

Only problem with this on a Sequoia is that the front will be wide but the back fenders will be normal and not as wide....even with bushwackers added. Anyway, I've already ordered and received the normal 2014-2015 fenders.

 

Below is a picture of my 2014 Sequoia with an ICI Magnum RT Tundra (07-13) bumper and a Tundra grill. The bumper would not fit right without the Tundra grill. My installer installed the bumper, grill, and bumper lights in around 2.5 hours and said he did not run into any compatibility issues.

 

how much did it cost for you to do that front end conversion? was that the original sequoia hood? and do you have to use a custom bumper as well?

For those interested in a Sequoia with the updated Tundra front end, I noticed the pictured 2010 Sequoia SR5 (already converted) posted on Craigslist in Houston for $22,500 if anyone is interested.

 

Finished the conversion a over a month ago. I have both the 2007-2014 and 2014-2020 bushwacker flares. Not sure which set I want to use. Can't make up my mind if I want square-ish wheel wells or rounded ones in front and back but I cant install them yet until I upgrade my wheels. For now I am using the OEM flares. I chose a square tube bumper guard to match my square tube steppers but someday I'll replace the whole bumper with an offroad bumper. I also have another set of tundra headlights but for now keeping the Spyders only because I like the LED light bars.
