I had a tacoma for many years and just purchased an 04 doublecab tundra. Needed to repair a number of things but the last is the speedometer is not working and check engine code says vss but had it checked by electrical tester and magnet and told it was fine. Tack and other gages work. Anyone with an idea of what could be causing this or do you think it might still be the sensor? Could it be a broken wire? David

04-06 Double Cab uses ABS unit to calculate speed. Make sure your Tundra all 4 wheel sensors working properly. I had one failed on my truck (rear) and speedometer was not working either. After I've replaced one of the sensors, its start working. I've used SnapOn diagnostic tool to see which wheel was giving out road speed and which one stayed at 0mph. Good lick finding problem :tu:

Is your truck stock? When my Truspeed was acting up, my speedo quit working and I had a VSS code. Long story short, I replaced the Truspeed and it started working again.
