This forum has been invaluable over the years with my Gen 1, now Gen 2 Tundra. Always been a lurker, but I have searched high and low for someone with a similar issue to mine, and have hit a dead-end.

So, for the full-disclosure part. I replaced my evaporator core, so I had to do the full dash-removal. That all went fairly smoothly, at least for this DIYer (not a mechanic). So, me being one to never not push my luck, I wanted to clean the cover of my instrument cluster because there appeared to be a dirty spot inside. So, I removed the cover, cleaned and replaced. I remember bumping the speedometer, but just enough that it moved off zero. So, I zeroed it back and forgot about it. After I had everything re-assembled, the speedometer started doing a crazy thing. It now spins backwards about 365 degrees when I follow this sequence of events:
So, I am hoping someone out there can say, "oh yeah, all you have to do is xyz and you will be good to go".
This video (Speedometer Issue) shows what happens in step #5 above.
Hoping I'm don't have to buy a new instrument cluster, but that might be where I am at. I just can't for the life of me understand what I could have done to cause it.
Thanks,
Ed

- Start truck
- Shut truck off
- Open and close door
- Wait about a minute (or until things shut down, not sure what that is, but you can hear what appears to be a damper closing)
- Open the door
So, I am hoping someone out there can say, "oh yeah, all you have to do is xyz and you will be good to go".
