I have the same front setup and it is as amazing as described but one thing that should be cleared up is that if you do not do the diff drop and/or upgrade to high angle boots like XPLORx4 has then the factory boots will wear holes in themselves over time.

Hi, thanks for all the good information gathered here. I picked up an 04 Limited last week and love it. Just replaced the rear hatch door handle and latch.

I'm looking for a mild lift and think the combo on the first page may be what I need. I'm planning to add a winch with a hidden winch mount to reduce weight compared with a full steel bumper.

Will the combo in the first post with stock Sequoia front springs and Bilstein 5100s be enough to support a winch with a hidden mount? If not, is there a comparable lift spring/strut combo that has a compliant ride?

Thanks

Hello, I'm brand new to forum and this has been a great post to get oriented.

A few questions for a 2007 Sequoia.

With this system of shock/coils do you have to use the highest setting to obtain the most lift? I may want to go slightly lower setting. Also, what if anything has to happen to the airbag system? Can it stay as is or does it have to be unplugged or worse case removed?

Thanks in advance.

Rob

You do not have to use the highest setting on any lift you select. You may use lower settings, but note that with lower lift settings, you may not be able to fit the larger tire sizes. To make the rear air suspension height match the front lift, simply adjust the height sensor. There's a small nut attached to an arm and bracket on the top of the rear differential. Loosen, then move the nut forward in the bracket to increase the ride height. Every 1/8" of forward adjustment results in 1/4" of lift. If you need more lift than moving the nut provides, you can also lengthen the adjustment rod on the sensor.

Used the "Black Friday" deal on 4Wheel Parts to get the front / back shocks for 10% off and rear ARB coils and then an additional 5% for the Bilsteins too. Total came out to be $508. Also grabbed my total chaos diff drop from 1stgenoffroad.com. The installation is planned for when they do the frame replacement.

Which shocks & coils did you go with? 5100's and 4600? Which arb coils.

Quick questions on this setup: My biggest improvement I am seeking is better handling for the car, I do not want to lift the car at all. Is the handling improved with this setup, better sway resistance? If I were to use this setup but I didn't want to lift my car, would it be ok to use this setup (4x BILS 5100 + ARB) at the lowest setting on the front shocks?

Right now I am thinking of setting the front shocks to the lowest setting with stock coils, which should leave it at stock height. For the rear, can I use the 5100s with stock coils? Or, if I use ARBs + 5100s, will that leave it at the stock height? As far as I can see, the rear 5100s are not height adjustable...

Thanks!

The front setup would be just fine. The rear 5100's listed are for an FJ Cruiser and have a 2 inch lift automatically. If you are just wanting a better stock ride with no lift, I would go with the Bils 4600 series and still get the ARB rear coils. The real coils is what makes the ride. The rear stock springs are not stout and don't hold any type of weight when loaded (immediate rear sag on load). No more boat sway when going up a driveway at an angle or anything like that. The turns are solid!

Hope this helps!

So I have the parts that mulze42 listed out with the 5100s front/rear and the OME 2862. My 2007 has the AHC airbag suspension that will be replaced with these parts. From other threads I understand that I also need the spring insulators for the rear part # TOYOTA (48313-0C020) and will have to disconnect and remove the airbags and cap any of the connectors etc and fiddle with the sensor lights. Has anybody changed out these insulators? Are they a direct install, or is there any special tricks?

Is there any other guidance any of you can give on AHC removal and replace with coils springs? Thanks in advance.

Of potential interest, Bilstein shocks are on sale at 4wheel parts as part of their holiday sale. 10% off all shocks, free shipping and there are bundle deals if you buy 4. Because the 1st gen sequoia front and rear shocks are not part of a traditional bundle, I recommend calling them to make a custom bundle. https://goo.gl/gNkWTD

Best price I could get on 4WP online for the Bilstein 33-187174 rear shocks was $80. Amazon has them for $76.30.
4WP for front 24-261425 is $98.99. On Amazon seems a bit more. Now that the holiday sale is on at 4WP, calling them and buying all 4 may enable better prices than amazon.

For those of you planning on a winter build keep us posted w/pics! Last, I just ordered the diff drop after re-reading this thread. I bought the Total Chaos 1'' Differential Drop Spacer (96200) from offroadwarehouse.com. After welcome discount it was $35.91. Not too shabby, will work on the install this winter. Cheers all, T

PS. Ordered a complete rear diff with ARB air lockers for my 4runner from MarlinCrawler. Wondering if anyone is running air lockers in your 1st gen Sequoias. Also, do any ARB front bumpers fit our trucks stock, or are modifications required? Thanks again, T
