I have two nickel sized spots where my tailgate must be rubbing my bumper. They are about 12" off center on both sides. When I lower my gate, I have about 1/2" of space between my gate and bumper. Of course I don't haul anything on my gate, and can't figure why in the blazes this is hitting. Any ideas??? Hate to get it repainted and have it do it again. It is almost down to the metal on one side...

A picture would sure help. The hinges on both sides bolt on. Lift the tailgate off, put a marker mark under each hinge and
on each side for reference and raise them both up a 3/16" or so or out an 1/8". Whichever way you think will work. I think
out without seeing it. The other cure is to adjust the bumper forward but it will be more work.

Get some red lipstick and put it on the spots in question on the tail gate. Lower the gate and the lipstick will leave evidence of where the contact is occuring. Once you know that, you can make the necessary adjustment .
