When Towing Highway speeds +55 mph, should I use Overdrive or not? What effects are on the transmission?

heat! your gas mileage will not be much different either way so leave the od off and run in third gear to save your tranny. Too much heat from searching for shifts and a slipping tourque converter can burn the tranny fluid and damage the hardware in the tranny.

Your truck will tell you if it needs it or not. If its searching/shifting back and forth quite a bit its telling you to get it out of OD.

Ditto to what he said. If it's fairly flat land, overdrive shouldn't be that big of a deal. If it's fairly hilly, you might want to turn it off. But the transmission will definitely tell you if you need to stay dropped a gear or not. :tu:
