Tranny Problem 06 DC

1523 Views 11 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  bigbadktm
I am so pissed right now. My 06 DC with 8000 miles is having transmission issues. Sometimes it acts like it's in nuetral and then slams into 1st like from a stand stil or maybe if you're turning, and it seems to slip sometimes when shifting. It's acting really crazy. I am taking to the dealer 1st thing tomorrow and was wanting some ammo from you guys before I go in. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

why not just ask them to fix it instead of "needing ammo"? give them a chance ..they will probally just take care of it no questons asked.. in the past i have never had a problem with getting something warrented if it was damaged ... in 1999 i bought a tacoma and at 8K the tranny (5 speed) went bad and i couldnt get it in any gear they changed the tranny, flywheel, clutch, slave cyl, and clutch master just to be on the safe side so give them a chance and talk to them nice to begin with it will get you better service in the end
I have been nice and will be if they take care of it in a good way. I just want to be prepared if need be.
i wouldnt worry about it just drop it off and they will take care of you
ya i work at a dealership, we know they have issues trans issues sometimes, they should not hassle you at all. the only thing that might make them get confused a little if it does not do it all the time.. is it super intermitant or a pretty regular thing. if its really hard to get it to happen let them hold it over night for an extended test drive.. my 2 cents
I have never had an issue with getting a problem fixed while under warranty, toyota will take care of it.
I am sure they will take care of the problem, I just hate the hassell. It has been acting crazy all day so I don't think it is intermittent.
Any evidence of fluid leaks where you park it?
I am not sure if I have an issue, but if I'm not at a complete standstill, and hit the gas at a stop sign, it searches for .5 seconds then accelerates hard. Its not smooth at all. Its like it doesn't have enough time to drop into first, then when i hit the gas, it immediately goes to first and goes...I really wish they made these in 6 speed manual.
I took it in this morning and they are going to put a new tranny in. The tech went for a ride with me and he agreed they were having issues with Tundra transmissions. They probably had a batch of bad transmissions because it is not an epidemic but I am sure not the only one. I will have it back by Tuesday. Sport RallyFive, mine was acting very similar to that plus it would go through the gears and after it went into high gear it would then go into like nuetral for a split second and then back into high gear. It was acting crazy! I will post report after I get her back.
euugghhh I hope mine is going to last. I switched to Toyota from Acura(Honda) because it has tranmission prob. I went thru 3 replacement trans within 6 years w/only 90K owning the car (although they were replaced under warranty). I guess I'll find out......
mine seems to be retarded as well, but not that bad.this tranny sucks for curvy roads. it never knows what gear to be in. mine is in 5th at 40mph sometimes slower, so then when i have to speed up, it has to downshift twice, and lugs it because it should have been in 2nd. i got rid of my 98 t100 for trans issues among other things, and got more problems.

this trans would never work for road racing, it doesnt downshift fast enough, and doesnt stay within the powerband.
