Has anyone been able to order a new '07 5.7 L with a TRD cold air kit yet?

Are you referring to the TRD Cold Air Intake? If you are, I haven't seen anywhere to buy one yet, but AFE is offering one. I've heard that AFE designs and manufactures the TRD intakes. So if TRD is going to release one it shouldn't be too long.

The AFE intakes are available now. Someone needs to buy and install one and get some dyno numbers. Who's volunteering? :D
I did on my crewmax and it pushed the order out to May:cool: . It was ordered as a "fleet order" which also pushed it back.

Just checked their website and I couldn't find it -- do you have a link?
Thanks.
I had seen it on Toyota's website under either options or accessories. Can't find it now. I did hear it won't be available until summer (June/July?)
Will the TRD be an oiled filter like K&N? Thats a nice thing about the AEM and AFEs, they are available w/ a dry filter.
My 5.7L should be going in to AEM next week to have the CAI made they offered me a free one and a rental car can't beat it they are still looking for a 4.7L

YES...........It states in the '07 handout propaganda that it will be available summer of '07.

Thanks for the info. How long ago did you order? Mine probably wont be here until mid may anyway as the dealer won't be placing the order until the end of this month when they get their allocation.
Drawing underhood heated air is far from "COLD AIR"
Yes even with the heatshields some kits include.
True cold, forced air doesnt come from under a vehicles hood.
Depending on who built and under what name its marketed you could be helping the 300-600% profit their netting off of about $13 worth of material and some lowbuck shmuck doing the assembly.:tu:
3-5 hp net :td:
The AFEs are a sealed box w/ a small "snorkel" if you will drawing air in from the wheel well, not the engine compartment.

Personally, I am more interested in an effective air filtration system that enables me to clean the filter myself and not buy a new one at every service. If there is any HP gain then that is icing on the cake IMHO. If you can build one for me for $13.00 count me in.

While This is a slightly better config. It wont yeild any more than 1 or 2 more hp than the open kit. I have spent alot of money on CAIs for Porsche (pointless), BMW, and Benz. Yes I know "sucker". None ever got me more than 7hp (Dynoed). Ever. While I cant speak for TRD empiricaly. I'm gonna guess a total of 5 hp max. Personaly I would'nt waste my money on any CAI now days. It just doesnt make any sense to pay upwards of 400 bucks for 5 hp. I'm holding out for F/I on the Tundra. TRD or who ever makes a better product.
Id pay that for the aesthetic improvement alone honestly. People buy wheels for $500 a piece and freak when someone pays $3-400 for a CAI. Seems to me you get better looks, slightly better performance, and in most cases a little more growl in the sound department. Sounds like a decent deal to me.

Also, when you get one for $13 that looks as good as the TRD/AFE and doesnt look like pvc pipe joined w/ duct tape, and comes with a dryflow filter, give me a hollar.
LOL !! I would be glad to,but I'm not K&N
Has anyone pulled their airbox "OUT" ?
If you have why in the world are you willing to pay TRD for their lame offering ?
Your factory airbox allows "MORE AIR FLOW"
Although its not as smooth a flow, drawing air from the same location right ?
Just acouple mods to that factory box will smoke anything TRD will sell a naive consumer to increase the airflow, unless that cool red tube and Toyo Logo on the lid is worth all that $$$ knock your selfs out. Wont be a pull sheet to justify the cost either.

I talked with my dealer (son in law) today and he told me that mine won't be in until mid May. He ordered it as a "fleet" truck and will save me some $$$. He said they are building those after they get the retail trucks out in the market.

I installed a very similar intake from Volant on my '05 4Runner and got 17 AWHP on the dyno. However, the 4Runner has a fairly inefficient intake system to begin with -- alot of air impedences from the fender to the throttle body. I also had a catback exhaust already installed when I put the intake on.

Although I want one, I don't expect to get this much power with the Tundra because it is already a "short-ram" intake from the factory with few impedences and a direct path to the throttle body. The cone filter generally has more surface area to filter air, and is also less restrictive than the factory filter, which is really the only place I see HP being made from an aftermarket intake. Not to mention that Toyota probably tuned and optimized the intake already to squeeze out the 381 stock ponies. Maybe just a drop in filter would suffice here. Even though power may be minimal, the sound and look are almost worth it alone :D

Those of you who are buying an intake regardless, try to get some hard dyno numbers and see what it makes, if anything...

Yeah, 17 is kinda high for any CAI alone. I have personaly setup 5 total. And seen countless dynoed. NONE ever got to double digits.

07Sport, No one can knock you for wanting to make your truck look pretty. But when it comes to performance parts. I kinda like mine to actualy perform and be appropriatly priced.

And once mass produced. In "general" CAIs like the TRD may actualy cost around 13 bucks to make. No one is saying that they can make a better CAI for 13 bucks. Thats just plain silly.
