12787 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  02tundah
Hey guys, I just purchased a strut spacer lift from ebay. It's a 3'' Spacer lift that sits ontop of the strut, the ebay website says handtools and a floor jack. No strut dissassembly. I just wanted to see if anyone could advise me on how to install them. I have an 05 Toyota Tundra SR5.
If anyone could help I would appreciate it!!

From what I can see it looks like all you need to do is remove the strut from the vehicle and insert these spacers between the top of the strut and the strut tower. You may need new fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc) if the kit does not come with this stuff.

I'm sure you can find a write-up on strut removal, its pretty simple.

The reason (I believe) that no strut disassembly is required is because from what I saw in the ad these are just spacers that go ON TOP of the strut...in other words there are no pre-load spacers that need to be installed. Pre-load spacers would require you to take the strut apart and probably would require a strut compressor.

Again, this is just my "first-glance" assessment, I could be wrong. Make sure you understand what you are buying before you buy it.
oh yeah its super easy. jack, and block up the front end releasing pressure off the wheels. use a floor jack to compress the shocks a very little bit. undo the three top strut bolts; then lower the floor jack slowly. install the new spacer, reassemble, and torque the bolts. shortly after follow up with a full alignment.
What devil said is right. then post pics, as I will be doing this very soon.
Thank you Devil! I appreciate it man!
:becky: sometimes we all just need a little moral push, i sure you could have done it alone. let me know if you run in to problems. just pm me, i could probably hook you up with a manual link.
Is there anyway you could hook me up with a manual link? I just want to go over it before I start tearing down my struts. I'd really appreciate it!! :)
On my 2000 all I had to do was, unbolt the swaybar link, take the 3 nuts off the top strutmount, remove lower shock bolt, pull the unit out, put the spacer on top and bolt down with nuts off original mount. remove the 4 bolts that hold the lower control arm to the spindle while having a jack under it. lower lower control arm enough to get shock assembly back in, jack back up to the spindle reinstall bolts and swaybar link. Good to go.
