Tundra -Highest Safety Rating-IIHS

First the NHTSA gives Tundra 4/5 stars. NHTSA test is low speed and head on. Now, IHSS gives Tundra its highest rating. Their test is off set and higher speed. More like real world crashes. So the Tundra does better in a more difficult test.

Hopefully, those Ford commercials will now disappear. The commercial doesn't mention Tundra by name but does imply that Ford is safer.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET..I knew that thing was safe!!

Watch yer azz F-O-R-D!!! MUAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
nope still 4 out of 5

You can't jump to 5 stars without doing anything at all to the truck to all of a sudden give it a 5 star rating

4 out of 5 in NHTSA. IIHS gave it a better rating evidently. They are 2 different crash testing entities all together, with the IIHS test being arguably more realistic and tougher.

I don't think IIHS gives out stars???
Here's your link:

IIHS-HLDI: Toyota Tundra

I don't see a rating yet for the new GM 900 series trucks.

I guess you didn't get the memo that friends don't let friends buy Ford. Then again, maybe you don't have any.:)
Hey, I'm a Lexus guy at heart. I'm hopeful that my Tundra will be just as safe and reliable. I am okay with honest opinion. However, some individuals just come here to spout their anti-Toyota bias.
Read this:

Of all the six truck names in the large pickup segment...
.. Crashtest worthiness of the F150 over the Tundra is easily refuted by the more stringent IIHS tests rather than the outdated NHTSA tests;
.. the F150 is the only truck in the segment where you cannot get side and curtain airbags on any truck at any price!!!!!
.. the F150 is the only truck in the segment where you cannot get Stability Control on any truck at any price!!!!!
.. S/C airbags and Stability Control and Traction Control are standard on the Tundra at no extra cost.

Of all the six Ford is the one that should be keeping it's head low until the redesign in 15 months.
Experienced drivers will know that the best way to prevent an accident is to avoid it. The Tundra has S/C and T/C standard. Furthermore, the most common accidents that vehicles with high center of gravities have are rollover accidents and you will be much safer in a Tundra than in any other truck on the market.
Side airbags and VSC is a must in my parents eyes. -rockstate
Your parents? How old are you?
I think the new Tundra is an excellent vehicle and the crash test data confirms that aspect. This is just my personal observation but I dayum near purchased a Ford Super Duty. Every time I see a Dodge, Nisan, or Ford truck I am so happy that I didn't purchase one of those. Their styling just looks old to me. None have really updated their vehicles basic styling. Again, I don't care who likes what, it is a personal decision. For me, I definately made the best/right choice.
Anyone see the new ford commercial with Mike Rowe? About the frontal crash tests. What a bunch of idiots they are.... they are comparing apples to oranges again. they are touting that they have the highest rating, but they are standing in front of a crew cab and as far as I know Toyota hasn't had the crewmax tested?? and the DC got the highest score also. so they are comparing the ford crewcab to the Tundra reg cab.
what freakin' idiots:devil: JUST MY .02
