Just bought an 03 Tundra TRD AC 4x4 SR5 with 128K on it yesterday. I told myself I was not going to buy one with over 80k on it, but finding a nice one with low miles was not working out. Plus it seemed like the few I found had a premium price tag on them.
I picked this one up for $11,000 which based on NADA is a fairly decent price, retail it's around $13,300. KBB brings it down to 12K, but neither the dealer or the bank looks at that for pricing.
The truck is in really good shape, the only thing I don't know is if the t-belt has been changed. Maintenance records would be really nice to have, but getting from a dealer rarely provides that info.
So what do you all think, did I pay to much or get a good price?

Good looking truck but I would have probably held out for a deal on an 07+. I've seen them go for as low as $16k for a D-cab SR5.

$11k for that truck is a fair price. Nothing to brag about but you didn't get ripped off either. Mileage is a little high but it's a Toyota built during the years that quality meant more than it did today. 4x4 is also a great plus.

I suppose I should also add that I got full asking price for my trade, which was average private party value. So that left me with no negotiating room with their asking price. I traded in an 02 Dodge RAM 1500 with a 5spd, was a nice truck but also had high miles and I was spooked something was going to let loose on me. Now after reading stuff on this forum, I don't feel much better about this Tundra, having a little buyers remorse...
NegroTundra - you got a smoking deal on your truck, that would easily fetch 13,500 here with no hassle.

I paid 17k (including TT&L) for my '00 AC Off-Road TRD 4x4 back in '06 when it had 84k miles on it. It all depends on what is in it. Leather seats and such inside will add a bit. Pretty much every option that is not base model adds at least a little bit. I think at this point with my truck at 135k it is worth somewhere in the $7-9 range (haven't really checked recently.

Well, prices vary depending on location. Your best bet is to use Edmunds, which uses true market value. Putting that truck into their system, it comes out with dealer retail of $10,500. So if they gave you premium price on your trade-in, i'd say you got a good deal. It would have been worth about $1500 more had it not had so many miles on it, but its a toyota, I woldn't worry as much about it as a domestic truck!

I agree, mine was definitely the exception and not the rule. The guy I bought it from had no idea the worth of the pickup. I think you paid a pretty average price. Have no remorse, this truck is the best truck i have ever owned, you will see that in time. Also keep in mind, what you read here is mostly complaints because people are looking for answers to their individual problems. People don't (usually) come on here to say..." hey, my 4LO is in excellent working condition...". So, any forum creates a little unsettlement. To add to that, the guys that really frequent this site are obsessed (I Confess), and inquire/complain about things that most people are fine with.

Enjoy the new truck!

A few years back I snagged a smokin 98 SR5 Taco Xcab with 4" BDS lift and 33" tires. The truck was just sweet, picked that up for $6500 and it only had 70K on it. I flipped it for 12K 3 months later, took like 4-5 days. Deals like that come around, but they are rare!

And that right there is why i NEVER do business with dealers :first:

Since I bought my '05 DC SR5 4X4 last December, I have been watching the regional Nickel out of curiosity on similar priced trucks. I learned two things right away; 1) used Tundras are rare, and 3) low miles used Tundras are non-existent. I even look in the Sunday Oregonian classified ads and there is usually just one Tundra listed.

I think you got a fair price on, what sounds like, a very a good truck. Enjoy it. If you want to really feel better price a similar fitted and optioned new one.

I just picked my '06 Double Cab SR5 with leather, but with steelies instead of alloy wheels and only 41,000 miles for $12,000..............I think I stole the truck for this price. I also have all of the maintenance history for the truck oil changes and tire rotations, brakes everything was done and documented through Toyota dealerships.........

When trying to make two transactions one is difficult. Trying to get value for a trade in and low price on a used purchase rarely go hand in hand. That being said if you like the final price then you did ok.
