I have a 2008 Tundra Crewmax with upgraded305/60/18's (on stock TRD18" rims)--- (2WD unfortunatley) -- but i might want to take it out to the slopes this winter to go snowboarding...

what kind of snow chains or equipment can us 2WD users take - to make the snow trips enjoyable...

Get snow tires. Most roads in CA are well maintained but snow tires will help a lot

Sand bags and quik-grip chains will do fine with 2wd. These trucks do well in the snow but the CHP will decide for you whether or not you need to put on chains. My chains are for larger tires and they were less than $100.
