Look I am in my 60's and worked on every vehicle I have ever owned and I started working on my own vehicles when I was 15, I have an OBD scanner and every time the scanner says; No Codes and I have even tried another person's scanner to see if mine was not working properly and theirs came up with No Codes! I live alone and this is my only vehicle and just want to get it running again, so I am asking for any suggestions to reach that mark! Thank you for answering and I appreciate it, but there has to be another answer for what is going on with my vehicle!

I don't like throwing ideas out there to someone wanting a quick fix (could be MAF, MAP, engine control module, bad fuel, who knows), and from your response I suspect your looking for someone that had simular problem for a possible answer. We're both old wrench turners and I say to use a manual to start trouble shooting with your multimeter. That will save you time in the long run.

Yeah I know what you mean, I checked the MAF thinking that might be the problem and the manual isn't really that helpful, have looked at it 100 times, but get nothing better from it! Was hoping someone else out there had, had the same problem and knew what the fix was! Getting tired because I have tried so many things, even checked all the vacuum hoses for cracks, etc and nothing there! Guess I'm just getting too old for this crap! lol

Just for informational purposes, I ordered this Tundra back in October of 1999 and picked it up in November of 1999, 2 months ago I changed the starter, it was the original starter and it still has other original parts I haven't changed yet because they haven't gone bad, but just changed the water pump, timing belt, alt belt, power steering belt, thermostat, gas filter, crankshaft sensor and can now tear down the front of the engine in 30 minutes because I have checked the timing 6 times and each time I have turned it twice and it still comes up with everything lined up, so am now lost! the reason I replaced all that stuff was because the water pump went, it was the original part too, so figured while it was open, might as well put everything new in it! So that is where I am at now, lost!

My 2008 Sequoia with the 5.7 will start and run for just a few seconds with the air filter off. The sensor was detecting the lack of an air filter and shutting the engine off. Not sure if that is a good thing or not, but that was my experience.

I have a 2000 Toyota Tundra SR5 3.4L V6 5-speed, it will start, but shutdowns after about 3 seconds! can't keep it running at all, any suggestions of what the problem might be??
Sometimes if battery hasbeen disconnected the computer forgets where to idle at and continuo sits off. I forget the exact process. Look thru the various tundraforums online Or do some more google searches. But it’s something like turn the key to on position before it turns over so u have lighta radio etc. Leave it in that position for about 1-5 minutes or so. Get it to turn over and stay on. With our trucks previously I have thrown it into drive as quickly as possible giving it gas to keep it idling and running and keep it at high RPMs drive it for about 30 minutes and computer resets. Every start after that would be back to normal. GL

Thanks for the info, will try that! After numerous times tearing it apart and putting it back together and it still not working, the last time I took it apart, I noticed there were 3 teeth missing on the back of the crankshaft gear, not sure if that is the problem, will find out once it gets here! it is suppose to arrive Saturday, so will see then!
