Did you just push the caliper pistons in or did you open the bleeder before and let the fluid escape as you pushed the pistons back?
It is possible to push debris that has settled in the caliper back in to the ABS system if you don't open the bleeders. If this happens a dump valve could be stuck open and this will cause a spongy pedal.
Since VSC and TC work using the ABS this could set a fault code, I'm only surprised that the ABS light is not on also. If you can get someone to read the code it could be helpful in figuring out what happen.
