Dear Community Members,

We are excited to announce that we are live on our new forum platform! We have been working hard over the past few months with a leading design and product firm to deliver a cleaner, faster and more engaging experience for you. We have leveraged XenForo tools and features but added layers of modern design and technology to make the site run faster, smoother and more reliably. All of the valuable content within the community is still here, even though the layout may look different.

A consistent experience across all devices
The site is optimized for all screen sizes, including mobile. All features are available and ready to use on all devices.

Speed and reliability are key
No one should have to wait for information. This site has been built to be much faster and more reliable, period.

Easy to use and navigate.
We have made the design clean and simple to focus on the areas the community uses the most and removed clutter.

We have also introduced a number of new and updated features:

New Homepage Experience.
Your home page now features the most active forums, trending discussions, featured showcases, and top contributing members. This will help keep you up to date on what’s happening in your community and eventually become a very personalized experience for our members with all the great content you love surfaced effortlessly for you.

Search.
We have introduced new search algorithms, powered by an industry-leading AI platform, that will help you find information faster. We plan to roll out new features to continue improving search, and to power many additional areas of the forum.
Due to the volume of content our search platform may take some time to complete indexing. During this process, you may see a limited number of posts until indexing has been completed. We appreciate your patience.

Popular and New Posts

We have made it easy to navigate directly to the Popular (previously Active Topics) Posts. You can find the Popular section, which includes “New Posts”, by clicking on the trending up arrow in the navigation. Always be up to date!

Bookmarks
Now you can bookmark your favorite discussions! Bookmarks are a handy way to remember and easily find great content or stuff you want to read later.

Following
Following a thread is great for something you want to stay up-to-date on, and receive alerts or emails when there are new replies. Thread subscriptions, and watched threads are now called “Followed”. Your followed threads can be accessed by clicking on your user avatar, and clicking “Following”. We have migrated all of your existing subscriptions into the new platform.

Show off your own collection.
We have introduced “My Showcase” for you to show-off images of your own vehicles, modifications, or road trips to the rest of the community, and we have migrated in the existing data from our vBulletin Garages. This is your opportunity to upload often and share your passion! Visit Showcase.

Dark Mode

We have introduced Dark Mode. One of our favorite features allows you to access the site with a power-saving, and easier on the eyes dark mode. You can access it through the right-hand drop-down menu.

We also wanted to make it easier for new users to understand the lingo of forums. We have cleaned up various language to more commonly recognized phrases including:

Forum Listing – the forum index, or forum home, is now known as the Forum Listing page. It can be found in the drop-down menu with the 3 dots.

Following - Thread subscriptions, and Watched are now known as Following

Conversations – Private Messages or PMs are now conversations and can be accessed from the user avatar drop-down in the main navigation
Showcase – Showcase is designed for users to "showcase" items/projects through the use of uploaded images, text descriptions and custom content categories. It’s a way to visually and textually provide detailed information on content you wish to share. Showcase would be similar to a catalog, whereas gallery would be like a photo album. Can be accessed from the drop-down menu with the 3 dots

Popular – is the new name for Active Topics. You can also directly navigate to New Posts / Today’s Posts from this button

Account Settings – is the new name for UserCP. The account settings can be found by clicking on your avatar in the top right navigation
Bookmarks – a great place to store valuable content that you may want to reference later.

These are just a few of the great new functions and features to try on the site. Take a tour and look around! If you have any questions, please check out the HELP section for some quick FAQs about the new platform, Help Section

Please let us know what you think about the new experience, your feedback is important to us.

Thank you all for your support during this amazing journey!

Is the ability to search only one specific forum coming back? For example, I want to search just the 1st generation Sequoia forum. The old forum had this but I also used the google trick of "search terms inurl:https://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/1gen-sequoia.69/" but that won't work anymore because actual threads no longer have the forum in the URL (although maybe I'm wrong and the old were like this too and google was just finding hits by the pagination on the forum URL -- if so, this will keep on working).

So search is a step backwards unfortunately. Unless there is some option to search only a specific forum/subforum that I'm missing. Model-specific search is kind of important!

tundrasolutions.com,

We have more great updates to share with you this week based on your feedback and the use of your new community platform. Continuous improvements are core to bringing you a reliable and increasingly better site every day. Here are some key things to look out for in this latest release.

Sticky Discussion Threads

Some discussions just need to be read! These are sticky and we heard feedback that sometimes it was hard to tell the difference between the sticky discussion threads and the regular discussions. We have updated the design and layout so now sticky discussions have a pin beside the title and a large grey bar at the bottom. We hope this makes it easier to browse the content and find the information that is most important to you as a community member.

View Counts

There were a few areas of the sites where the view counts were not showing consistently. We have addressed the display issue. We hope this helps you find the most read and popular content more easily.

Recent Searches

Our new search service is a great way to find information on the site. Even better, your site will remember your most recent searches to help you find information more quickly. The search bar is always on the top of the site, whenever you need it!

Performance

More performance improvements! Fast loading pages are just better for everyone and we couldn’t agree more. Please continue to send us your feedback and let us know if you see an improvement, we are constantly working on making the site faster and faster.

Your insights are extremely powerful in helping us to support your community better. Please keep them coming!

Thank you,

In the old version, there was a button at the bottom of a thread page that allowed you to go to the previous or next thread in the sub-forum. I do not see that functionality now. Am I missing something, or is that not a current feature?

At the bottom of this thread, towards the right, there is a "read more" link.

Does that accomplish what you are looking for?

Couple questions and some comments. Honestly not really sure why when upgrades are needed so many things have to be completely changed to the point that its like going to a brand new site and starting all over again. Why did PM's have to be changed to conversations? Same with subscriptions, why the need to change to following? The irony is this is a Toyota enthusiasts website and yet Toyota is very well known for standardizing all their vehicles using common parts, so when you drive any Toyota, its a very easy switch as everythings in the same place. So why take what you had, throw it out, and basically start over? Sorry for the rant, its just frustrating to have to spend hours relearning the entire site again.
Questions- I just added to an existing thread and what used to happen was when I typed in "I" while talking about myself, it would auto correct so "i" didnt look like an idiot who didnt know proper grammar. After saving i noticed the lower case didnt correct like it used to and now i look dumb. i tried to go back and edit my post but i dont see where that button is now-again, total change to the site. How can i edit my post? Can you bring back the auto correct for things like that? Yes, i know, i'm being lazy but it was a feature that was here and was handy.

When I used to log in there was a pop up that would tell you when there was a new post on a subscribed (sorry, should say "following" thread, does that still exist? Will it be right there when you first log in or do you have to go to your own account first?

We understand that there are some inherent changes in moving from vBulletin to Xenforo. However, vBulletin’s infrastructure does not provide the flexibility to be able to provide additional improvements. Continuing on that platform without the ability to maintain a better experience for all of you is just not an option moving forward. We know you expect and deserve continuous improvements over time.

In the past, we have upgraded more slowly. Unfortunately, this became technically difficult and often times would break other features when updates were attempted. Making the bigger investment now in the new platform sets us up to respond faster to your feedback moving forward.

Your security and data are extremely important to us. Modern software and upgrading systems are critical to keep us advanced in providing a better and more secure experience for you to share content. Not updating the software would have made that increasingly difficult over time as other technology advances.

Like most of us, I am a creature of habit, so it takes me a bit to get used to changes. (I was more than a little grumpy about it all at first.) I was lucky enough to get the chance to play with the new platform before they went live with it so I am already getting used to it. I have to admit that I am crazy about it now. It feels so much faster and is easy to use after a brief learning curve. Give it a few days and let me know if you start liking it too. :)

Spell check is usually a function of your browser or an add on. I use the free version of Grammarly.

You should be able to edit your post for up to 24 hours. Near the timestamp at the top of the post, you should see an edit link if it is within that time limit. After 24 hours you would need to reach out to a mod/admin for assistance.

How To Find Subscribed Threads
Click on your avatar near the upper right-hand corner of the site and select “following” from the drop-down menu.

This will bring you to a page where you can choose to view thread discussions or followed forums. You can also manage your notifications for them here.

Let me know if I missed any questions.

Thanks for the help. Getting most of it figured out now. Updates are necessary and I get that, just frustrating that basically everything had to be renamed.
Still not sure how the grammar thing changed. I never changed any settings or added anything myself, it just seemed to automatically correct some of the small stuff. I am no computer whiz so I know I didnt install any add ons. It was fine before the site update, then not afterwards.
One other question, if i wanted to post a thread with some detailed pics etc. can I post it as excel based? I'm not overly computer savvy but at least know how to use excel better than some programs but would hate to make something up only to find I cant upload excel.

Try copy pasting the information into the text area and let me know what happens.

Or are you asking if you can upload the file itself?

I am checking on this. In the meantime, can you try uploading the file (using the paperclip) and let me know what happens?

Cant do it. It says the uploaded file does not have an allowed extension. So how would I do this? What are allowed file types or why are excel files not allowed?

The "Flashing Dash Lights" thread and the associated PDF file has been around since 2011. When the last site "upgrade" occurred it became necessary to attach the PDF to the first post and edit that post each time the PDF file was revised. This new "upgrade" will no longer allow me to edit that post so the question becomes how do I update the Flashing Lights PDF file in this new format.

Yes, that worked. The problem with doing it that way is that multiple copies of the same file with different content now exist.

I wonder if converting your excel file to a pdf file would work for you?

Yup, that works, never thought of that. Thank you.
