It was stated that the Titan was 500lbs lighter than
the new Tundra. Just thought I could clear the air
regarding that. We all want the truth! Correct?

The 2007 Titan CC LE 4X2 is listed at 5262lbs.

The 2007 Tundra DC LIMITED 4X2 at 5235lbs.

The 2007 Tundra RC 4X2 is 4890lbs

The 2007 Titan KC LE 4X2 is 5036lbs. Lesser equiped
one's are in the 4800-4900lb range.

So we have just Myth Busted our first myth. The Titan
is not 500lbs lighter than the Tundra.

The Crew cab Titan should be compared to the Crew Max not the DC.

A King cab Titan LE 2wd is 5037 lbs
The 4x4 is 5097 lbs

Compared to Tundra DC Limited 2wd is 5235 lbs
The 4x4 is 5540 lbs

----------------------------------------------------------------

The Titan Crew Cab LE 2wd is 5262 lbs
The 4x4 is 5323 lbs

Compared to Tundra Crew Max Limited 2wd is 5415 lbs
The 4x4 is 5705 lbs

----------------------------------------------------------------

Titan doesn't have a Regular cab so there's really no reason to compare them to anything.
Looks like depending on trim the Tundra is a little heavier to a lot heavier.

Even comparing the Crew Max to the CC Titan
it's no 500lbs. Just a hair over 200lb to be exact!

True but look at the 4x4's. Depends what you are comparing, one shouldn't say the Tundra is 500lbs heavier than a Titan. Depends on the trim, the 4x4 dc is almost 500lbs heavier.

Well first off you are comparing two different models. The DC Tundra is suppose to match the KC TITAN. A CrewMax is suppose to be comprable to the CrewCab TITAN....so in fact a DC Tundra is heavier that a KC TITAN. A RC Tundra is kind of unfair because of the shorter bed and no extra cab and comparing it to a fullly loaded TITAN LE is even more stupid. I have a XE(Lowest trim) Titan...no power windows, locks, or any fancy crap. Just a 6 disc player. That puts me in that 4800 range 5K range with me in it. Don't think about it too much, the TITAN is lighter.

Why does going from 2wd to 4wd only add around 60 lbs for the Titan when it adds around 300 lbs for the Tundra?

Go read how many Titan front diffs have blown up and you might find that answer.;) They are almost worse than the rear ends.
True:eek: .....The blown diffs usually occur on earlier 4x4 models with E-lock diffs. 4x2's rarely have reports of blown diffs. If so...the number is a small fraction to those with the E-lockers.

As equipped in the Popular Mechanic comparison, both crew cabs the tundra is 5820, the titan 5340, that's 480lbs, close enough to round it to 500lbs, 20lbs off is close enough. Yet the heavyweight tundra still was quicker than the 500lbs lighter titan. See it and believe it.

Don't know where PM gets it's info but I got
mine from kbb.com. They get their data direct
from the manufacture.

Their numbers are realworld numbers, as equipped. What your getting is base weight.

What you say is true but my only point is the DC and
KC are not 500lbs apart as some have said?
