Hello there,
I'm relatively new to this great forum, although I've been an assiduous reader for now more than a year! Love the quality of information of this forum, one of the best!
I just fixed my back window 2 weeks ago (yeay), but am now facing a potentially more serious (and costly) issue with the aforementioned weird noises I'm hearing when driving. It sounds like something is literally grinding, as in a part being rusty and about to fall off. Kinda like what you would expect from an old rusted out truck' suspension, except its undercarriage is rust free as far as I know! The grinding noises start as soon as the truck moves, even with slow and straight take offs. They're also louder when coming to a stop. They're clearly audible with my driver window down, same goes for the passenger' side. The noises are still intruding in the cabin with all windows rolled up, although more faintly so. I noticed that the noises are also not especially dependent upon suspension work itself, as they don't increase and most of the time don't manifest themselves when driving over bumps or when the truck experiences vertical traveling.
Any idea what the verdict might be? I'm thinking bad ball joints, or maybe a defective lower junction arm? Could it be the front brakes (warped rotors)? I will try bringin the truck to a mechanic this week, so it can be properly inspected. Still though, I'd be interested in hearing what other 1st Gen Sequoia owners might have to say on this issue.
By the way, the truck is a 2002 Sequoia SR5 RWD (102K miles), it has received a federal Canadian inspection for importation less than a year ago, and has since received new back and front brakes (including new rotors at the front), a new F/R ABS sensor (was throwing VSC/ABS lights and triggering ABS), as well as regular oil change maintenance.
Thank in advance for any insights!
Cheers,
Bastien
