Re: Welcome to Texas Tundra Country! - New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here!

Been poking around on the main Tundra forum for several weeks and decided to go exploring and found a lot more available. Did not know abut all that was available on this site since I bookmarked the page from a search engine. We actually have two 2007 double cab 5.7 TRDs. One is my son's and one is mine. I travel quite a bit so I like the extra room. I have seen a few posts about members wanting to set up meets but have never seen any actual dates or places yet but I will keep my eyes peeled.

Re: Welcome to Texas Tundra Country! - New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here!

Just realized there's a Texas forum today :)

I'm up in Euless and soon to be in Bedford. I have an 02 tundra that I will be getting pics up soon since all the new stuff...also making my signature tonight to list everything.

Don't remember who it was but I hope you don't mind me taking your signature format and just putting my info in :)

Newbie here from the DFW area with a new Tundra DC.

I decided to venture away from the Tundra forum over here to say "Hello".

Re: Welcome to Texas Tundra Country! - New Members Please Introduce Yourself Here!

I just wanted to drop a quick hello to everyone. My name is Michael, I live in Houston but spend most of my working week in North East Texas. I have a 07 White 4.7L Tundra. I am currently looking for some help on buying a toolbox, I would prefer to have a low profile tool box but I am open to any good ideas. Other than that I am waiting on on my bed mat and brush guard to be delivered. I will eventually update the sound system but for now my extra cash is going towards Christmas presents for my wife. Cheers for now.

I like both of my trucks and took care of it very well. :) I am currently deployed and cant wait to be back and drive my Toys. I'm checking some info: pros and cons about the new 5.7 Tundra.

Another Texan checking in. Just saw this thread for the first time this morning (not sure how I missed it). Anyway, picked up a new 07 Tundra DC TRD 5.7L the last day of November. Having a great time learning about the truck and - how shall we say - exploring it's capabilities!

Whatup fellow texans. I'm Kevin, I live in Austin. Well...central-west Travis county actually. I have been reading the forums for a while now mostly trying to get info on my 2003 Tundra SR5.

I had a '03 taco prior to getting my Tundra. Taco was too small for me but was peppy and fun to drive.

Glad to meet y'all

New to Texas, Houston area, does anyone know when and where the meets are. Toyota Center in downtown Houston perhaps? ha ha.

I read all the threads and it seems to be just whenever everyone feels like it. I'm probably wrong, but don't you guys do a monthly meet. You know, like the first sat. of each month or something?

I really want to meet new people (just moved from across the pond, SW Florida) and my Tundra seems to be a good area of interest that I can share with others.

Thanks for your time

OT: Who's Avatar was the Deep Spit Cattle Company marquis?

Who had the photo of the marquis over the entry to the Deep "Spit" Cattle Company in their Avatar? I thought is was MustangSally, but I just can't remember. Anyhow, I am intimately familiar with that marquis, as in 2001 or 2002, we were driving on highway 36 near Comanche, TX and I did a double-take, slammed on the brakes, whipped it around, and realized "That really does say 'Deep "spit" Cattle Company'." I about laughed my butt off.

Well, apparently we're not alone. See below:
COMANCHE, Texas - Mack Stark figures cattle raisers can appreciate the name of his west central Texas ranch and makes no apologies for the words in big black letters on the steel arch over the dirt and gravel driveway. The name's not exactly fit to print, but let's just say "Deep Droppings Cattle Co." or "Deep Excrement Cattle Co." wouldn't have the same effect. "That has a ring to it," the 75-year-old rancher said.

A ring of truth, Lavon Stark, his wife of almost 45 years, chimes in.

"If you've ever been in the cattle business, you know," she added.

After all, it's why cowboy boots go up almost to your knees. That comes in handy in this part of the state where manure runs deep and cars are outnumbered by cattle haulers rumbling along Texas Highway 36 in and out of Comanche, about 10 miles to the west of the Starks' 140-acre ranch.

And thus the name Mack Stark gave to his operation "six or eight years ago"
after a tough day of herding and moving cattle and, naturally, stepping in it.

As he tells the story, after a third trip one day with a hauler to the cattle auction, somebody asked where this latest load was coming from. A tired and dirty Mack Stark blurted out a name that some now might consider a not-so-polite term for the economic situation of the nation.

"He has a dry sense of humor sometimes," Lavon Stark, 72, says.

The name - like its namesake - stuck.

The Starks' sons didn't forget the comment and made him a sign as a gift.

"He just died laughing," his wife recalled.

She asked him if he was certain he wanted to put it up along the highway.

"I sure do," he replied.

Mack Stark said the only really negative reaction came from "one old lady at Rising Star (a nearby town) about how sorry I was for putting that up. She didn't like it. I just let it go at that."

Somebody once stole the sign in the middle of the night, so Mack Stark just went to town and ordered new letters and made a fancier sign flanked by silhouettes of cattle.

It's a tourist attraction of sorts as people spot it and turn around to take pictures - a highway maneuver that Mack Stark worries will lead to a wreck.

"They come all day and into the night," he said. "I'm afraid somebody is going to get killed."
