My batt is on the way out. Hasnt failed yet, but in the 20's its wiiir wiiiir wiiiir....vroom. Its a DieHard Platinum, pretty sure a rebadged Odyssey AGM, got 9 years out of it, so happy. Of course, with Sears slow liquidation, they are not longer selling a Diehard platinum. Sad.

Searching tundrasolutions, there are repeated references how THE battery to get is the Odyssey PC1700MJT Battery. its a little on the wide side, 13 inches, but doable. Best price on line is $290, 875 cca, 7 x 7 x13.

I keep on looking online, and I find the Odyssey 34R-PC1500T. Perfect fit, positive terminal on the upper left when its installed. 7 x 8 x only 11 wide. Group 34r. 850 CCA, at only $230.

What am I missing here? Did they not have the 1500 with the correct post configuration when everyone was buying the 1700? Is it worth the extra $60 and shoe horning that beast in?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Yes I was looking at that one. Judging by the language it appears it was taken from the odyssey website. I like having a physical store to return it to if something good wrong, but Battery Plus doesn't impress me. Half the website is "buy a franchise " the guys at the store have no idea what they are talking about, and they either don't have what I want, or its defective.

I guess it depends on which store you buy from. The store where I bought batteries for my other SUV had staff that was informed enough and helpful.

The Odyssey batteries are very good. Last a long time. I replaced my stock battery after a year, since it was leaking- with a PC1700. I think I finally replaced it after about 8 years.
Replaced it with a Sears Platinum P1. Sadly, Sears no longer carries these batteries.
The Odyssey, Platinum P1, Stinger, and others I can't remember are all made by EnerSys. They, IMO, make the best batteries you can buy. Look at the brands made by EnerSys. Another good battery to check out is Deka.
