so im trying to figure out what stuff ill need to buy to get my tundra ready to tow my track car.

this seems like a good receiver, what do you guys think?

then im not sure about which ball mount i need to get.
does anyone have any ideas? im not sure what "drop" or "rise" or any of those things mean. what does the length mean? i dont want it to stick out too far, or not far enough. i'd prefer one that has a 6000lb weight rating

Before we can get specific, can you provide some details on the trailer weight and car weight? The ball size is determined by the coupling on the trailer. The drop and rise are used to place the ball at the proper height so your trailer is level (more or less) when loaded. I'm sure others will chime in with recommendations.

The car weighs about 2800lbs and the trailer might be 1000lbs
then I'll have extra wheels, tools, ECT in the truck bed

4000 lbs. should be no problem for what you are looking at. To get the proper rise/drop distance you may need to install the receiver and do some measuring. They also make adjustable ball mounts and "flip" versions that can give you a couple options in one piece of hardware. Somewhat difficult to order everything online without all the measurements and dimensions. I'd get the receiver installed and go to a local hitch place or auto parts store after you measure the distance from the coupling to the ground (at level) and the distance from the receiver to the ground. Remember the truck will squat an inch or so depending on tongue weight.
