I bought the latter one yesterday. I was/am undecided about the tensioner, but I'm leaning towards buying one.

Based on the fact that getting to it is a major undertaking, there is nothing wrong with changing a "good" tensioner. There is everything wrong with choosing not to change it and having it fail 20k miles later. The penalty for failure is too high. As long as you're in there, might as well take care of it.

Change the water pump while you are in there .Mine was just starting to leak at 86,000 miles. If it fails you do it all over again.Or worse.

Yea, I'm gonna do the water pump. The kit comes with pretty much everything except the tensioner.
