Yes this mod will work. Dealer told me it wouldn't but it will work. Thought about doing this myself. But I went ahead and bought Euro taillights instead.

I did this too, along with 05-06 model trd wheels. Now mine looks like a 05-06 from the outside. Not sure why I did it other than I found a set of rims for $100, then found set of taillights for $40! Anyway, they are not LED, they use the same halogen bulbs as the 00-03's.
