2007 Fuel gage problem

Have the 07' with about 190k miles and the last couple months I noticed that my fuel gage doesn't seem to go below about 1/4 tank. I ran out of fuel a couple times before figuring this out. When I fill up the needle goes to full but as I run out the fuel it stops at about 1/4 tank. The estimated range on the digital fuel range seems to be more in line with fuel in the tank at around 50 miles to go (although 1/4 tank should read more) and will keep me out of trouble instead of using the gage. Any suggestion's? How hard to replace the sending unit? Any recalls?

Sounds like the float arm arm is sticking. You'll probably need to replace the fuel pump assembly. Probably a few hundred bucks (less if you do it yourself, but it's a pretty big job as you have to either drop the tank or pull the bed). I've done it a couple of times on a Chevy and it's a few hours of swearing/fasteners breaking. At 190K miles, you're probably nearing the end of the fuel pump's life anyway. Just take some solace that it was the sender arm that failed and not the pump itself (leaving you stranded on the roadside).

Handy video:
