2016 tundra filler neck removal

I have a 2016 Tundra and my 4 year old decided that it needed rocks in the filler neck on the gas tank. The neck tapers down very narrow so the blockage makes it difficult to fill with fuel. How do you remove the clip on hoses on the vapor lines? One has a red clip slide sideways and back clip, but still won't come free. The other has a strange black clip assembly that appears to need a special tool. Any advice?

Thanks,

Wes

Take a picture of the clips you are talking about.

I work for Toyota at one of the assembly plants. I can tell you exactly how to get those off because they are exactly the same as the ones I used to do when I worked on the line that installed fuel tanks.
The red one- 2 stage safety lock. The red you slid back but can see that little gray square piece? There's one exactly the same on the opposite side. Push both in at the time and pull back.
As for the black one. Single stage. There's 2 ways to do this one. Basically you pinch that one in at the very end, one both sides, and slide back. Its like a snakes tooth because the lock tabs, one on each side face backwards. So when you pinch the very end of the hose you will see it start to collapse and you will see those snake teeth kind of open up and release from the collar that holds them in place. You might have to try to release one side first then the other. Does that make sense? That's how I do it and its easy but its also something that takes a bit of a knack.
The other way to do it is slide a small screwdriver in and push those lock tabs. Same thing. Gently push and open one side and slide it back from the lock collar, keep pressure on the released side then release the lock on the other side.
Be very careful with both no matter what. They each have a rubber O ring inside the hose so you don't want to yank on them too hard and damage the O ring. If you do you will get a leak and throw a code.
Let me know how it goes and if you are still having problems I can talk you through it.

Shoulda just showed you this in the first place. 2 minutes into the video shows you exactly how to do the black one. One thing he did I didn't like was how he yanked on the hose after the teeth were free. When you squeeze the clip and release the teeth, keep your hand there and push the hose off from the connector, don't pull on the hose further down like he did or you risk breaking that connector.
