Hi Guys,
I know that this has been discussed quite a lot and I spent the better part of my weekend trying to figure out whether to attempt this. Is their any place which spells this out so that I can easily connect this thing up. The Thread Limited Wiring help was fairly good but seemed sketchy regarding the power fold wiring and puddle lamps.

My current Tow Mirrors on my SR5 have:
heat (defogger)
Outer turn signal and act as running light as well
Power mirror upper half only

attached is my connector at the mirror

Also, do I need the Limited mirror switch and if not how will the power fold option work?

Are there are straight forward instructions available ..understand if not.

Instructions are fairly easy (for the most part) and with the exception of a couple wires, you are already set.

Pre-wired functions are defrost, power adjust, and turn signal. You will have to have 2 wires per side (so 4 total) for the power fold option to be added and you will need the correct dash switch. There are two ways to do it too, depends on how much wiring you want to do. You can go from the switch directly to the mirror (short route and slightly easier) or you can go from the switch, to the door ecu, to the mirror (correct but longer way).

I don't have any diagrams but I work as an Assistant Service Manager with the local Toyota dealership and we did this for a customer and I have recently (last week) had this done on my new 2012 Tundra. We did 2 hours on labor for doing all the wiring (taking the dash and door panels off and routing everything). I am not a wiring expert so I fall into the "pay-to-play" category sadly but my tech said it wasn't too hard, just took a little bit of time.

I hope that helped you out, even if just a little!

Brad

Hey Barry,
Thanks for the information.

Questions:
Do I need a different switch than the stock SR5 switch. Some time back I asked this question and was told to order the one without the button and ended up ordering the one in the pic. Actually its still in the original plastic bag never opened but it looks identical to the one in my truck.

here's what i bought back when I was going to do this in 2010

I have a lot of drawings from various threads would you be able to hit up your technicians and possibly identify actual pins for some reason I cant attach pdfs

I'll try to get you the part number today and then get a diagram for you.

That is the correct switch. As far as the wiring diagram, for some reason i can't get into TIS to pull up a saveable electronic copy to link into here but it is fairly simple like I described earlier.

Brad,
actually i was told it was not the correct switch by my local dealer today. you said you had this done in your tundra does yours have button on it for the power fold if not how are you activating the folding mirror option.

The correct switch i was told is the 84870-0c040 from the limited. They said it had a something in it that deals with the motors in the powerfold and if not the mirrors while driving can start shaking because of some tension cable or something along that lines hence the reports that I heard about folks having mirrors that appeared to be shaking appearing loose.

Mine are installed and working great. There are two switches, one for memory and one without (not sure of the difference). We actually tried the first one not knowing the difference and it didn't work at all.

I went from a power adjustable, power defrost only mirror to power fold, turn signal, adjust, and defrost. That switch and a little bit of wiring was all I had to do.

The button on the adjustment switch.

Well I can't say I have anything useful to contribute as far as advice, but I'd love to know if you plan on doing anything with your old tow mirrors...

Well i figured out how to do it lots of thinking and testing and a beer
I have a stock tundra (now wires for power fold in the sail panel) and it would be great if I could get it working. I have the mirror and the switch but stuck on the wiring. Could you please post any additional info or any pics of how you got it working. I will definitely owe you a beer if you can share some info. Thanks a lot!!!

I have a wiring diagram someone else posted here a while back.

FWIW, the pinout numbers didn't appear to match my '07 SR5. But I was able to manually (electrical jumpers) fold/unfold my mirrors as they loosened up from a year of driving.

If someone can host the file, PM me, and I'll E-mail it to you to share.
