The Woofer speaker (rear center) in my 2000 Avalon is blown. Any idea where I can get one without paying full price at the dealer?
I sent ours to WWW.simplyspeakers in Florida and they repaired it for $45.00. There are several companies around the country that do this. Search Google or whatever search engine you use and you will come up with several of them. The Woofer speaker (rear center) in my 2000 Avalon is blown. Did you successfully replace your Avalon subwoofer? I can not figure out how to remove the retaining screws from the bottom side of the black plastic mounting ring. Can you help me out with any info? Thanks, DHThanks. I'll give it a try.
I am in the same situation with my 2001 avalon. Any luck finding it? I've been told that I have to use only a JBL 86160-AC180. Can't you substitute anything else?
Thanks.
Thanks! I just got that speaker and installed it (2000 Avalon). It took a lot of doing to get the plastic frame out from the deck, but after that, the soldering was easy and the only minor hitch was the screws didn't match up, so I glued the bottom frame of the speaker to the plastic frame to hold it in place.I have a 2000 Avalon and I had the same problem with the sub...... I put in an 8 inch I had thinking if I used a 4 ohm it would work. Well speakers are different, you do need a free air and a lower watt may help. The radio is only putting out 32 watts to the sub. I look around and found one at partsexpress.com (Parts Express:Goldwood GW-8024 8" Butyl Surround Woofer 4 Ohm) this is a link to the one I bought. If you look at the price you may think it's crap!!!!! But, you really don't need much. I do love my music and I can't tell a difference between the JBL and the Goldwood. except the price.
