I need to remove the round coin holder that is on the dash to the right of the steering wheel. Has anyone popped this part out, and if so, how is it done?
Like this?Want to pull out that too and mount my Garmin there. We're talking about the holder on the dash, just to the right of the steering wheel, right?
Thanks man, sometimes I forget not everyone has 6meg dsl, lol.MOTAMHAN and GrungeTundra, see this link: http://www.tundrasolutions.com/foru...s.com/forums/questions-and-comments/125328-resize-your-digital-pictures-easily/

Let's see some pics! Especially how you mounted the grey hole cover thingy....eh, that's a technical termToday I wandered the aisles of my local Lowes. I found the perfect hole filler...
In the section where you find doors, door knobs, deadbolts, striker plates, etc, there are hole covers. They come in grey primer and brass. Basically two flat circles, one with a threaded tube welded to it, the other with a hole. They're sold to cover up the hole left behind if you remove a deadbolt from your door (who does that?)
Anyway, the gray primer is glossy, and not too offensive-looking on the dash. Now I've got my ipod mounted there (which completely covers the hole and cover plate) Ipod is now at a good viewing angle, and within arms reach.
oh that's pretty neat, thanks for sharing!:tu:
I agree...now if I could figure out how to get rid of that pesky 4x4 knob.oh that's pretty neat, thanks for sharing!:tu:
Cool! Thanks.
The mount on the circular plate is stuck on with some heavy-duty double-sided tape (this is how it comes, I didn't add the tape). The kit contains two mating pieces - one with the same heavy-duty double-sided tape, and another with some kind of special adhesive for bonding to silicone skins, like the one on my ipod. The two halves have a trapezoidal dove-tail feature that attaches easily, and doesn't protrude much from the dash.Cool! Thanks.
BTW, how did you mount the "hold-it" to the round plate?
Thanks again,
Dave
Good question. I tried drilling out the threaded tube so the excess screw length could go through the back rather than bottoming out against the plate. That ended up ripping the threaded tube off the back plate (oops).Did you have to use any washers and/or spacers? Looks like the width of the panel is less than what a door would be. Or did it just screw together tightly?

So I drilled through the back, and ran a tap through - the same size as the supplied screw. Sure, it only got 2 threads or so in the thickness of the plate, but that's plenty to hold the two sides together. Just don't over-tighten it!
