Anyone else have a rattling second row seat? More specifically, the single seat all the way on the right which flips up to access the third row. I took a close look today and I still can't see what the deal is.
Loose bolt that holds the seats to the chassis?? At least thats what was wrong with my mustang seats making noises.. I don't have any problems with my Seq seats making any noise.Catman said:Anyone else have a rattling second row seat? Dont feel to bad. I have fixed a few (3) sequoias,(2) highlanders for the same rattle noise, and it was, as you said the seatbelt rattling. You must have a good ear :tu:Larrison said:This is going to some really lame, but I swear-to-God it really happened to me. I got a really annnoying rattle just the same spot in the single side of the 2nd row seats. Was driving me crazy...
Turned out it was the seat belt. Somehow the seat belt had gotten twisted and caught up sort of behind the side of the seat against the pillar. And it rattled when the car moved.... Once I untwisted the belt and put the metal "tongue" where it was supposed to go, the rattle miraculously disappeared. Duhhhh.....
No kidding. If the rattle has mysteriously appeared, go check out around the seat to see if something's stuck somewhere it shouldn't -- the seat belt and buckle, the tongue of the belt, or something under the seat itself such as something in the little storage compartment under the seat. Gotten into the 3rd row recently? Has something rolled up under the seat (like a coke can or a metal pen) and been rattling against the seat hinge latches?
I figure my stupidity and lack of ability to figure out why a rattle was happening should be good for at least a good lesson for someone else.....
Not sure, I'll try later today. I noticed that the release handle seems to have alot of play. The handle is tight actually, but the shaft itself has some play iin it. Maybe I'll tape it to see if that's it.Larrison said:If you fold the seat back down (but not fold the seat forwards) and drive around, does the seat still rattle? or does the sound of the rattle change if you do that?
Let me mail you my mother-in-law. She can ride in the back seat and keep it from rattling......of course then there are other noises created.Catman said:All you have to do is hit the seat back on mine and you can hear it rattle. When someone sits on it, no rattle.
