First post. Looking for help.
We just purchased a used 99' Tacoma 4x2 Prerunner for our son, and had it checked out by the local dealer and they said they did not see any problems, and they were supposed to check for any error codes. It is the 2.7L 4cyl, with automatic transmission.
After we got the vehicle home, a friend of mine came over to look at the truck, and he could not get it started. Same thing happened to my wife. But not to me minutes later. This morning I went to move it and now it happened to me as well. We checked the manual and it was no help.
When I got in the truck this morning, I closed the door, put my foot on the brake, and turned the key. The motor does not turn over, BUT all of the dash lights and the dome light all start flashing off and on, and keep flashing. Nothing happens no matter how many times I turn the key off and on. I've put in in neutral, rocked the transmission lever, and turned the key over and over again. The seller said the only thing he ever replaced on the vehicle was the starter a couple of months ago. So assuming it's not a dud, I am completely lost as to what it might be. Other than perhaps the ignition interrupt switch type of thing for the transmission.
Anyone else ever have their truck not start and all of the lights start flashing? Any thoughts?
