TRD Package?

What exactly is included in the TRD package? I thought it was a 4wd deal with better off-road suspension components but I also see several 2wd models with this logo which does not make much sense to me.

progressive rate springs, better shocks , skid plates and E locker or limited slip diff
and alluminum wheels and "oversized" tires. The tire size goes from 245/70-16 to 265/70-16.

I would vote against getting the tire upgrade. It is NOT worth the money.

Limited slip was an option not included with the TRD package. At least it wasn't in the 2000 and 2001 year models.

There is a TRD Off Road Package and a TRD Sport Package. Which one are you asking about?

The Off Road package from 2000 - 2006 included alloys wheels, larger tires, Bilstein shocks, off road tuned suspension, special color matched painted fender flares, fog lights and yes, the cool TRD sticker on the side of the bed. That's all.

The limited slip has ALWAYS been optional and is NOT included. There has never been a factory true locker or "e locker" offered for any Tundra before 2007, period.

As far as I know, there have never been any engine mods included in the OEM TRD packages.

16x7 alloy wheels sold for 16x8 Ivan Stewarts
265x70x16 BFG Rugged T/A sold for 285x75x16 Goodyear Wrangler ATS
Front off road tuned suspension swapped for 2.5 Camburg Coilover's
Rear suspension w/ bilsteins suprisingly still there
Cool TRD sticker ripped both off some time ago

Can someone please tell explain to me why I bought the TRD OFFROAD package  cause I sure don't :p

"The limited slip has ALWAYS been optional and is NOT included. "

My understanding was that the LSD became available in 2002 onward.

I bought an optional TRD (Kazuma?) LSD from another TSer and am currently looking for an installer. The Toyota dealer wanted $800 to install it.

Along those lines, I also have the TRD coils and shocks as well. The dealer wants $400 to install those.

I think the 2wd version comes with a rear anti sway bar.
[no_ads]This is only true of the TRD Sport package, not the Off Road package.

This is exactly what my salesman told me. He said if I really wanted all of that stuff, it'd be cheaper to get each component myself. That way I could also "upgrade" each component as I saw fit. Then he said he could simply give me a couple of TRD stickers to slap on the side :).

[no_ads]Your salesman was dead wrong. To buy each of the pieces that come with the TRD package from Toyota parts is EXPENSIVE. The wheels alone come out to twice as much as the whole package did. I know you probably will have custom wheels, so that doesn't matter but to actually buy the full package from Toyota in pieces would be thousands if installed by the dealer, not hundreds.

You are absoulutly correct. I wanted to buy a factory type rear anti swaybar for mine and..well..i took a pass. By the time you add up all the little pieces dam! The case above sounds like typical salesman sleeze to get you to buy the car.
