I have a 2006 DC with 4.7L V8 Automatic. I don't see any transmission dip stick nor do I see anything in the manual about checking the transmission fluid level.

What's up with that?

there is no check stick on the 05 -06 tundra with vvti and 5 speed Toyota made it this way on purpose However I was never too key on that ideal having a non servicable Trans..

no matter what toyota engineers say this is a bad idea IMO. the method of checking the fluid level is way too complicated. why couldnt they have just made a cold level check plug? how hard would that have been? or can you use the fill hole as an accurate measure?

Just figured this out last night when I went to check trans fluid. What a bunch of BS. This kind of stuff really pisses me off. Just like on the new Tundras with no locking gas filler door. My new 2006 V6 probably will not fill the shoes of my last 2000 V8. Toyota is now following the methodology of the American auto makers. I hate to say it but it is true.

your not the only one every time I gas this replacement Tundra up I allways bring my keys with me still  and forgot Toyota did that change on the 03 up tundras... About the trans not having a stick Im sure there are reasons for it they want you to head to your local Dealership and have that work there it's what benifits Toyota...

Oh, I dunno but my ex-Isuzu Rodeo did not have a dipstick either. You had to have Isuzu tool part number @##$%^56&$378 to measure the trans fluid temp and then open up a plug and if that hot @ss fluid spilled all over you it was full. What a bunch of crap!

The ONLY reason I can speculate on...is that the system is sealed better now, no chance of introducing contaminants to the system through a dipstick tube....like most if the trans-medic crap available at autoparts stores...of let a lube jockey put the wrong stuff in...

I had a Bronco 2 and a lube jockey put ATF in the manual tranny instead of 90W...with predictable results a year or two down the road. At 70 mph the transmission grenaded.

So from what little i can gather here seems like you can not do a complete drain and refill of the 2006 DC transmission? I understand the fluid is a new type and expensive but severe conditions i think would waranta complete fluid change and you can bet your last dollar that Toyota Shops will just drain your pan and call it good or does somone know how Toyota does a fluid change on a 2006 DC

When my time comes I'm gonna have a BG service done where they flush everything out and replace it. It'll be replaced with the same high grade synthetic fluid as it came with.Gotta local shop that does it,the owner even has his own radio program called "You Auto Know". BG does radiator flushes too.
