I have a 1995 29' Regal Commodore tri-axle trailer that is currently in a dock but I would like to start exploring other bodies of water up the west coast. The boat is spec'd to have a Net weight of 9,500 lbs.

I read the Tundra Crew Max has a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds but will this safely tow this boat or will I have to go up to one of the other trucks (2500 or 3500) that have HD models?

The Crew Max, I believe, is rated for more in the 9500 lb. towing range. The DC is in the 10K range for towing. Does that 9500 lbs. for the boat include all fluids, safety gear, and whatever else you may be carrying? You also need to factor in the weight of the trailer, which can add a thousand or more lbs. (Unless the trailer weight is already included. I could not open the link, it caused my pc to freeze.)

Can your Tundra tow this? Probably, but it is above the safe limits. And you may find yourself struggling to get the boat out of the water if the ramp is steep or slippery. 4wd would help with that, but you did not mention if your truck was a 4wd. Personally, your boat is larger than one that I would want to trailer, but that ultimately, is up to you.

So the yachtworld link that you sent says that the boat has a displacement of 8500 pounds. I did a quick search and found a different post that says the dry weight of that boat is 9500 pounds. Now add another 1000 or 1500 pounds for the trailer, another 1000 pounds for the liquids (fuel, water) and another 500 pounds in gear and you're quickly at 13,000 pounds!!! Not including you, the wife, the kids, the dogs and a cooler full of your favorite beverages.

I'm guessing that yes, the Tundra would pull it in a pinch on level ground. Would I personally feel safe pulling around something that big fully loaded probably not. Would it be legal... pretty sketchy.

If you're going to try it, make sure that you have Air-Bags and a REALLY good brake controller set to the size load you're hoping to pull. I personally would be looking at a different tow vehicle that is better suited for something in that size which is fully loaded like a Heavy Duty 3/4 ton or a full 1 ton truck. Pulling something that heavy out of the water on a boat ramp I'd also make sure you had a 4x4.

If what na said above about it being over 13000 total then no don't pull it. I don't pull that heavy enough to justify a 3/4 ton anymore and figured I'd just run to enterprise truck rental if I really needed one.

Is this for real? 1000 lbs or did you mean 10,000 lbs?
Some people hate how the yota tows stuff. Buddy of mine towed a car hauler with a 4500lb car on it claimed it was miserable. He also said that if had a 5.7 and didn't have the power to get it moving. I laughed and said something must be wrong with the truck. Of course he is a ford guy.

I however am not one of those guys lol

I put 3400 lbs in the bed. The payload capacity is only 1500. Was hitting the bump stops but had no problems at all. Didn't really feel the weight. Got up to speed on on ramps the same. Didn't need to drive any different than normal. I realize a trailer is different in the handling as the tongue weight is less and handling is different with a load following behind. For power, you won't have a problem. Short haul you will be fine. Highway at speed will be unsafe.

Will it tow? Yes

Do yourself a favor and put on some Firestone Riderite airbags to help keep the rake of your truck forward. Makes a world of difference.
