does going with big tire mess up your odometer/speedometer? Say like you're going 60 but it shows you're going like 65 or something? also, you drive 1 mile but odometer records you as 1.5 or something like that??? (numbers are exaggerations for example, pattern may be reversed).

The 305's are nearly an inch taller than the 285's, even though the measurement is for width. If you don't believe me, enter the sizes into a tire size calculator
305/65/18's are taller! Weverb asked about BFGoodrich 305/60/18 Mud-Terrain T/A KM2's the 305/60 is 32.6", a BFGoodrichrich All-Terrain T/A KO 285/65/18 is 32.8". As of now the KM2's Dont come in a 305/65/18. The 60 to 65 series makes a difference!

From other posts I have read, everything will be off. According to others, your spedo will say 60 but you will be doing about 7% faster. Your trip meter will say 1 mile and you will have actually traveled more.

I am looking for more width for better grip. I don't want to have to deal with the problems of larger tires. I use my truck for work and have to log all miles. I don't want to complicate my paperwork any more than it already is. I just wish the made the A/T's in a 60 series profile.

I just bought a set of 305/65-18 BFG A/T for $1,119 on ebay. Alot cheaper than local and no tax.

I got my 285 65 18 BFG KO's for 1230 from discount tire. This includes the warrantly (without the warranty it was 995 after tax and all)

Hey folks, i am going to put the 305/65 18s on and I see that it would be cheaper to order online. When you order tires this way, where do you go to have them installed. Seems like it would work out to the same price just going to Sams or another local tire store. Thanks for your input.

Heck, you can get them mounted at walmart if you want but i use wholesale tire. They do good work and I have never had an issue with tires they balanced.

Get the 305's they look so much better on the truck, ive seen them on non leveled tundras and they look pretty good there i think too. But if your gonna add any type of lift you'll kick yourself if you don't get the 305's

Stock tires, no lift:

Go with the 305's. You won't be disappointed.

Radiantred, I wnat your truck man! I need that 1" block in the rear to complete the look... and a set of the 305/65/18s.

I think I'll swing the 296/65/18 Gyear Dtracs and call it a day though. (might be closer to $100 cheaper a tire).

No doubt the 305s look beefier and better - but with a taller tire you tweak the effective gear ratio and end up with altered speedo accuracy & mileage calculations, and you lose some acceleration performance. And a wider tire means more rolling resistance / worse gas mileage.

So that was my conservative justification for getting the 285 BFG ATs - got them for about 930 out the door after some shopping, which was a couple hundred cheaper than the 305s.

I'm rolling this truck old-man style with near stock features - I know, I know - boo / hiss.

305's for sure!

What's the actual tread width on the 305/65/18 BFG?

go with 305 width. you'll be fine on an 18inch rim. plenty of sidewall. there are 4 trucks directly above this post that justify it too in my book. Nod to maylon, ballin, colin and radiant for doing it right.
