If your referring to the latch for car seats then I don't think it's possible. I own an 04 DC and have lived with it for years till we had our 3rd child then we decided to get a new gen Sequoia which has latches on all three seats on the 2nd row.

But you may consider getting a booster chair instead for the passenger back seat if your child is old enough. That's what I use for my oldest and I can roll with all 3 kids in the back of my truck.

 

weird. have no idea why they woudlnt put the LATCH on the outboard seats. hm.......anyway you can always add something but is it going to be safe and the right way? no. latch is to cut down on poorly installed seats but its not necessarily safer than the lap belt version. if you have the lap belt method installed correctly then its just as safe as the LATCH.

that said, not having a gen 1, are you saying it doesnt have the lower anchors or the top tethers? if its the lower anchors ive seen people use eye bolts with backing plates in classic cars, etc but of course you are totally on your own in a failure or accident....but the seats are designed to work with the lap belt as well so i'd go with the lap belt method before i'd ever try to retrofit a vehicle.

Pg 150/151 (145 for top strap) in your owners manual shows attachment points. You are correct there is no latch system for the right rear seat. You can however thread the seat belt through the car seat and not use the latch system on the child car seat. All three positions have top strap anchors available. 2 possible reasons for no latch system on right rear. 1) easier access to storage under "single" seat of split rear bench, 2) I believe most T-Bone collisions occur to the passenger side of the vehicle. The right rear is probably the least safe position for a child in that case.
Just speculation... and experience.

 

I have to agree with the others, don't try to add any anchors. Just use the lap belt--if you do it right, its just as safe as LATCH and probably safer than anything you can rig up.

My three year old is on the driver side in a LATCH connected Nautilus, and the baby is on the passenger side in a Snug Ride. I attached the base using the seat belt, and I can just leave it alone since I drop in the carrier. I used the little metal bracket the carseat came with, and remember to pull the seat belt all the way out to lock the retractor.

 

only reason i can think of it not being on the pass side is because the jack and tool kit it under there.

 

I agree that they should have the latch on that side...you can get those things way tighter than the seatbelt through the seat.

 

Considering that all vehicles made after Sept 2002 are required to have the LATCH system in it, I think you should have Toyota correct it.
