2002 Tundra. I jack knifed a small cargo trailer(please don't ask:eek:)and ruined what I call the rear passenger side fender. It is the section above the rear tire and was the one with the TRD off road decal and plastic extension around the wheel well. I am looking for a source for a replacement. I will also be needing a tail brake light assembly mud flap and plastic wheel well extension. But am mainly interested in the "fender". Fortunately the bumper was not damaged.
TIA for any tip links or advice,
Gary

Working at a Body a long time ago I'm going to have to say your going to either have your quarter panel Replaced such as new Bed or Graft on a new steel section on the damaged area. The cost ain't cheap I hate to say.Try to avoid hitting your crewmax too These Truck's are not cheap to repair sadly
You can repair the damages on your Current truck but hard to tell how deep this in.

You can either buy the outer skin or the whole box side piece if the damage made it to the inside wall. You can spray whichever piece you buy and then install it afterward. It is actually not that tough to install yourself. You can use two shop cranes to hold the piece, then bolt into place using small screws and structural adhesive along the seam between the piece and the bed floor.

When I backed into a pole and the bumper dug into the same panel you bent up...the dealer quoted me like $2,000 to paint that panel, repair very small ding and replace bumper. I'd say you're looking at over $2,500 if done at dealer.

What I am looking for is the actual body part. Please forgive my ignorance, but is that piece called a rear quarter panel fender or what? I have already been informed by two local body shops that the best(looking) way to fix it is to replace the entire piece. If possible I can and will install the piece and let the pro's paint it. I was just curious if there was an online source to order the whole piece from?
Thanks again guys,
Gary
P.S. Here is the new Tundra, sorry for the photo quality I just got it today and took the photo in the dark.

You are looking for the right hand box side. The damage is the rear quarter of that panel but it is one piece front to back. Commonly these are tack welded to the bed floor and inner box liner. You might get lucky and find a complete box in good or easily repairable condition at a wrecker or a truck mod shop that has converted one of these trucks to a flatdeck or service truck type rear box ( I have seen a few modified trucks like that around ). Might be cheaper in the long run instead considering the cost of the new side, labour to re+re, let alone paint.

This is also why we buy insurance, what about comprehensive coverage on your insurance ?, even whatever your deductable is should be far cheaper than going it yourself. Technically collision might also apply as you did somewhat collide with something... Maybe ask your insurance rep.

Thanks Hi Volt, that was what I was needing to know. This damage is 2-3 years old and I of course had full coverage at the time. For whatever reason I didn't want to file a claim against my own insurance for my dumba$$ mistake. In hindsight I don't know if I did the right thing or not. The truck has served me well and and I am now planning to give it to my Son a Marine in California. I guess he'll have to deal with it out there.
Thanks again,
Gary

It will be far, far easier to source a bed at a pick'n'pull, than to remove the tack welds for one side and bolt/glue in to place. The outer fender is boxed to the inner fender through the wheel well and is a huge pain to remove.

The only reason IMHO to deal with replacing bedsides w/o replacing the entire box would be fiberglass...otherwise, just get a new bed, it will be a bolt-on install (after probable paint match) vs grind, drill, cut, remove, align, glue & bolt repairs on a welded piece.

Im an estimator in a shop and this panel is called a bedside, it should probably be replaced with a factory replacement total job is about 3000. The only way to put this outer skin on is to cut out the old one and spot weld a new one on. If you love your truck get it done right!! If u dont have that kind of cash I would run it through your
insurance, if you dont know what your doing leave it to the pro's.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the replies and sharing their knowledge. Escondidotundra I will forward your info/post to my Son. We may indeed be interested and it seems going that route might be best. (depending on his savings account your price and my generosity:D ). He is really excited to be getting this old truck, he on occasion will share some of his adventures he experienced while borrowing it when home from deployment or on liberty . His last ride was awell used 82 Datsun PU, that came without AC :cry:here in FL. Here is a shot of her good side,
