Hellwig question

So I've been wanting to get this thing for quite sometime now and I just got around to ordering it on the worst day of the year, Dec 24th. Well , I patiently wait and it finally shows up today.
Guess what....I'm missing two of the four U brackets for the endlinks. I called Hellwig and they told me to call the place I ordered it from even though Hellwig shipped it. So,I call the place I got it from and they putmeon holdwhile they call Hellwig. Long story short, the guy that deals with returns has left early. I just finished reading about how many members have had their package show up with missing parts.
On a separate note, are both of the threaded J hooks supposed to be the same size? I have one shorter one and one longer one.

Thanks for reading the rant!

Sorry for all the troubles. I read those post too and it kept me from buying. Sounds like a good company could run HadesHairpiece off the map with a good sway bar whose parts all showed up at once. It's really inexcusable.

i had posted about this.
bottom line is -anyone that is buying a hellwig and is missing anything ,
you are buying old, out dated stock.

i bought a hellwig and had every thing.
i was assured by the seller that this was new stock.
and it was!

there is a picture up on ebay that shows every part you get in the box.

my suggestion to everyone is make a copy of this picture and save it, and when & if you ever buy a hellwig you will know what's what. before you attempt the install.

there is no part's list in the box, and even if there was it would be every hard to tell whats missing.

seeing the parts laid out in a picture made it every easy to match every thing up.
sorry to hear about your mishap.

I gave up on my Hellwig and removed it.

The nuts kept coming loose and the support rods fell off. Not once, not twice, but three times! I contacted Hellwig and they kept sending more parts, but it isnt worth having if I need to inspect it every month (as it says in the instruction sheet).

Hellwig is the yugo of aftermarket parts. I had one on my silverado and the kit was crap right out of the box. The brackets were so crappy that I had to drill the bolt holes out myself so I could install them. I want a rear sway bar however since no other company that I know of makes one I have to say no to hellwig and do without.

Here is the Ebay picture, I'm also considering this but want to wait and see some more feedback on the new version.

yes, thats the picture.
i have exactly this 1.
i took it out today and played.
what a huge difference.
to me, it's worth ever cent.
as far as tighening up, the jury is still out. since i just had it installed yesterday.
but that seems like a easy fix, drill a hole through the U bolt's and put a cottor pin's.
but what do i know.

I've had one on my 2001 for 3 years and never had a problem. The directions for install lacked any sort of detail, but there was a pretty good write-up on here someplace. Have checked it from time to time and all the nuts are still in place and everything else looks like it should. It does make a big difference in cornering...

I;ve had mine on for 70,000 plus miles(2003)......everything was there and I have had no issues at all with mine.........it makes a day & night difference in cornering and loading up on the interstate...........:tu:

I put one on a couple of months ago and was also missing parts. Bought it from JCWhitney and called Hellwig...they had all of the missing parts to me within a few days....they forgot to tape the box shut but luckily they didn't fall out. I'd try calling them back again, a lot of people here have had parts shipped right to them when they are missing or break.

As for the nuts on the U-bolts, take the outer ones off and put some loctite on them, works wonders:)

guy's / girl's if you buy the hellwig ,
please make sure it is the new batch of hellwig's.

call email and ask nancy , who( which company's) bought the new stock?
and than call that company and ask them to send only the new batch of hellwig rear anti sway bar.
NO OLD STOCK!

FOR YOUR INFO I BOUGHT MINE FROM:
NEVER ENOUGH AUTO
he guarenteed me: new fresh stock with zero parts missing.
and he was correct.
i couldn't be happyier.

I have installed Hellwigs on a couple vehicles in the past. Fit, finish, and basic design is beyond pathetic. Plan on filing, grinding, and fabricating quite a bit yourself if you buy them. :td:

#13 ·
you said it right ,the past.
i bought the new stock.
my installer did the job,yesterday.
none of any of the issue's you have or have had at all.
mine went right up and in.
zero issue's- a simple bolt up install.
at least with my part # 7641
there wasn't any issue of fit ,finish,or basic design,
there wasn't any filing, grinding, or fabricating needed at all.

maybe the hellwig company changed thing's.

my guy said it was a no brainer, simple install.

Thanks for all the answers. I just assumed everything would be there, but when I didn't see a parts list, I was a little disturbed. They are now shipping me both "U" brackets, one nut and bolt and the correct length "j" hooks. I wish I would have had that picture when I started.
One a second note, I did download the .pdf that someone did with the install. My endlinks look totally different. The look like this 0-----0 Anyways, I guess I make another attempt to install when the rest of the parts get here. Now I'm off to price out a bedrug and the undercover bed tonneau. If anyone is looking for the Bedrug, Amazon has them for $318.99 which is the lowest I've found.

I never had an order from Hellwig which I did not have a problem with.

No problem with mine. My 15 year old son and I installed my Kit in about two hours. I'm teaching him some basics on wrench turning, and had a geometry lesson while laying underneth the truck. Everything fit and I had air tools. Torgued to specs and have rechecked TQ several times since the iinstall.

Love the added handleing this kit gave the truck. It's a rocket off the line, will burn rubber almost anytime you step on it, and cornering is flat. Almost/did some drifting with it, even though this truck is kinda big and heavy, it sure doesn't feel it anymore. I'll be needing tires sooner than I thought.

I've only done a few mods, but the Hellwig was the first. It's been on more than a year, 10K miles with no trouble. The nuts are rusted tight thanks to good ol' WI road salt. I ordered directly from Nancy at Hellwig. The box arrived in bad shape with holes in it, but everything was there. Some low profile tires would take it to the next level, but it's still a big improvement. Here's a pic from last year:

2 years & 25k miles later & mine is still the best mod I have...right up there with quality window tint & a spray in bed liner.

I haven't broken anything & the truck handles awesome. Yep, the instructions did lack a big one.

well up date on my hellwig rear anti sway bar. all is tight and great, it's the best investment for handling i ever bought. i will buy 1 if they make 1 for any of my future vehicles.
all parts still on and tight, it's been almost a year. not a single issue from day 1 till now.
i wrote a post on this, truck handles so much better now, it's AWESOME & AMAZING!
but thats only my opinion.
i know for a fact it saved my life already and saved me from having a horrible accident.
2 thumb's up for HELLWIG!
thankyou,

I have had my Helwig swaybar on for 6 years with no problems. All parts were there, and the installation was simple and straightforward. One of the best mods I have ever done. The difference in handling and stability is amazing.
